I logged on solely to type this in case no one else heard it.

Dan: Cubs fans just seem smarter now and less crazy. Might just be me, but I definitely sense a difference.

Terry: Why do you think that is?

Dan: Well, pricing for everything down here is really high right now. Parking is $100.

Terry: (jokingly with a chuckle): So, are you saying the Cubs are pricing out the stupid?

Dan: (with that serious tone aimed at letting Terry know he wasn't joking) Well, maybe, yeah.

Silence

Dan then went on to say how it's probably also because this entire regime from Theo on down has been so logical and measured that there's nothing to worry about. The future is bright anyway.

Purely an anecdotal observation. I need hard statistics before I can believe what he is saying.

Sounds to me like he's saying Really Smart People stopped supporting One Of Their Own on the south side. Dan is offensive, dumb, and offensively dumb.

Also, did they stop podcasting it? I haven't found it in either feed the past week.

Think about it: when has anyone ever lamented the poor people filling up Wrigley Field? Not since Lee Elia. When there were 41,000 people at virtually every game in 2007-2008, were they just strolling in for a couple bucks? The implication here is obvious and useless.

EDIT: Also, when Dan took target practice on Cubs fans in the 2000s, wasn't it always giving them shit for being of the popped-collar, faded-cap, cargo-shorts variety? Now while those folks probably weren't what you'd call serious old money, they tend not to be poor, either. I think I know another thing bros in faded caps and cargo shorts tend not to be!

The poor people on the South side should JUST. MOVE... as long as it's not to Wrigleyville.

Is this shift change thing for real? And it was because CBS corporate wants to be on the right side of history w/r to transexuals? I never liked this reanimated version of transition but come on. Seriously.

Ok so I'm not crazy. Well that's even less WSCR consumption from me. I can only assume both lazy production staffs said 'not it' when it came to who'd distribute #content

I am just texting with my mom's husband a lifelong Cubs fan about how I won't admit it but feel excited for him and then I read this. Danny makes me hate the Cubs even more strongly now. LOSE IN THE SMARTEST HEARTBREAKING WAY.

Went with my dad yesterday and that is like a double George Costanza mindset on paying for parking. We found a space on Grace slightly east of Ashland....across the street from Captain Nemo's who was charging $50. That's like finding a $50 bill.

Parking is free if you look for it and are willing to walk a little. The same is true at The Cell

yeah or even if you had to, you could park a few miles away somewhere, then take a short Uber/cab ride in for far less than 50....

The popped collar crowd is now disguised under full beards and mustaches. I guess I'm not around the 20 year old set enough to have realized that ironic facial hair had replaced the barbed wire/tribal tattoo as the sign of "individualism".

I would like to applaud the Wrigley faithful for last night's performance. I could not help but notice all the quiet reflecting going on during all those home runs. Just a little applause, then back to monitoring their 401k on their respective smart phones. Cheer richer, not louder.

They're not doing this for the fans in the bleachers. They're doing this for R.J. Melman.

I did hear Bernstein on the drive home yesterday say that Cub fans "are just waiting for an excuse to be stupid".

I know I am. There's nothing I love to do more than be stupid.

Anybody else?

overheard by the smarter Cubs fan behind me yesterday: "everyone is excited because this is the first time the Cubs have made the playoffs in, like, 25 years."

Dan Bernstein can get bent.

Would it have been easier for everyone if he just dropped the circumlocution and said "damn, feelin' a lot better now that there are more Jews up in here"?

On the other hand, the crowd was filled with gray haired men and their younger wives. Maybe it is a smarter group.
