If there was any doubt Zaidman tows the Bears line, it was clear yesterday with his exchange with Boers.

When Boers was asking him angrily why Fox had them run the ball three times on that 2nd to last possession in regulation, Zaidman couldn't even bring himself to say that Fox screwed up. Rather, his answer was, "I understand your frustration." And then he went to justify it with some convoluted response that this is what you get with Fox being conservative, like this was what Bear fandom wanted to buy into. He couldn't be critical one bit.

I don't know why they have Zaidman on at all, when he can't be critical ever. And I have no use for whatever statistics he comes up with his tidbits that are completely irrelevant. The Score should apply for H.H. credentials for Durkin to be the Bears beat guy. At least he's not afraid to get his hands dirty and challenge the establishment.

He can't break bad on the Bears or the coaching staff, or they won't give him any inside information, which he then won't share with the audience anyways until the coach and/or player is fired.

See, it all makes sense.

What a loss that would be.

Isn't it more he can't break bad because he's employed by the Bears as the WBBM sideline reporter (and/or Bears all access)?

Anyway, that's just good #synergy. Definite WYC when they bemoan the proliferation of official NFL.com 'beat writers' while having the audio version on the air daily.

There'a fine line here, but isn't his job a beat reporter vs. an opinion maker/columnist?

Boers asked him a direct question. He wasn't doing a monologue.

reporter who works for the bears covering the bears is hesitant to be critical of the employer who cuts his checks.... shocking.... what's next are you going to call out Larry Mayer for not writing hard hitting anti-bears articles?

By your reasoning, all White House correspondents should be excused for not being tougher on Obama, when clearly they've given him a pass for seven years.

Where does it say that working for the Bears means you can never admit that a coach or player has made a mistake? Mistakes are part of the game, and should be covered as objectively as good plays.

It's dishonest then to call Zaidman a reporter, if he is a just a propaganda mouth-piece for the organization. Every time he gives his segment on B&B, a disclaimer should be read that Zaidman is a P.R. operative for the Bears and not a reporter.

Zaidman will be the first to report McCaskey's comments yesterday that the Bears are "headed in the right direction", while sweeping comments from Ginnie under the rug that the team is off to a disappointing start. Fodder for WYC that will go untouched.

Only if Obama pays them. And, heh, maybe he does.
