But you got a gun control non blatantly partisan political crap.

This segment did hit an all time low today. He said a few times to call if you "get the bit". He then read this "crap" that wasn't "the bit" at all. Followed by a few more long winded e-craps that weren't "the bit". They were blatant partisan craps that weren't "the bit".

WYC was Terry's thing. It used to be funny and lighthearted. Now it is nothing more than an opportunity for Dan to espouse his political views. Too bad Terry doesn't care enough anymore to say anything.

I really do not see why they do not retire it. They seem to dislike it and as you said beg for callers. Just end it. Who cares?

You claim to hate it, yet you still listen. You care.

clense the whole bit.... half of the craps that get on air are for people misspeaking or giving wrong facts or unpopular opinions... not "Verbal hypocrisy". nobody wants to listen to a 3 minute email read... should be limited to 5 sentences if you cant get tot he point or make a concise joke it isnt worth listening to.

I believe Terry insists on keeping it. He has allowed himself to be emasculated by the overbearing Beta male bernstein and WYC is the one part of the show that he sees as "his", as I believe it predated bernstein. I think l'il danny would shitcan it in an instant.

On a somewhat related note, I found it damn near hysterical that Terry, who will almost always "mmmm-hmmmm" and "That sounds about right" to any crazy fucking thing that comes out of danny's mouth, decided to take a stand when it came to the new Mad Max.

One of you long time guys (not long time guy) will know this: How exactly old is WYC? Was it from the first year of the SCORE?

First couple years of the Score from the old Ditka show with Mike Pyle running interference. They had rotated the hosts every week and Terry and Mac had their turn and Terry asked the question that will live on forever.

Score management wanted each of its shows to create landmark segments at the beginning of the station. Each show had a signature segment that they spread out throughout the week. WYC, Caning, Schmooze Patrol, What's Your Beef, etc.

I don't think Caning and What's Your Beef are as old as WYC. I thought Caning came about from when that guy was caned in Singapore. I can remember Jiggs making stereotypical martial arts noises during the segment. 1995 maybe? Was What's Your Beef even on the old Murph shows? I thought that bit and Tool of the Week started when he did mornings with Fred. There's was also Top Dog/Dead Duck with Doug and Norm Van Lier. Jagbag of course with North when he went solo.

The e-mail crap Dan read yesterday regarding Jeb's "stuff happens" comment was rich. On the one hand, it fit the essence of the bit because of the swimming pool legislation Jeb apparently forgot he signed. But the entire preamble was a totally partisan editorial. If Dan had spent a minute of work editing it, it could have been just fine. But he's too lazy and that wouldn't have promoted his viewpoint.

Seriously, what's the point of WYC? They go on and on about they want live phone-in craps, they don't want to read emails, and no political partisanship. So what happens? The first caller starts crapping Dan, and gets cut off before he can say WYC.

sometimes the podcasts have more audio than what actually makes it out to the radio live... in this case the caller said something to the fact of dan needed to brush up on his ancient hebrew and the caller got cutoff the second he said hebrew...

btw, good call on the jeb bush crap... it was one that actually fit the bit but agree 100% the 2 minute opening was boring partisan mudslinging

While writers with principles rail against the DraftKings/FanDuel bullshit, Señor Columnist comes to the defense of "smart money involved" and a prominent 670 sponsor.

Quote:
Enough with the lying and the pretense by both the NFL and government. We all know exactly what’s going on, but nobody seems to have the courage to confront it.

And defending the sports equivalent of insider trading makes you Captain Courageous?

Big days at Wrigley Monday and Tuesday. @Boers_Bernstein going live there for both on @670TheScore, from @DraftKings Fantasy Sports Zone.

Maybe Señor's writing needs to be flagged as Sponsored Content.

It’s not just the ads, either. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and Patriots owner Robert Kraft also have stakes in DraftKings, and the company is officially partnered with the NFL Players Association for licensed marketing. It’s legal and valuable and taking off like a rocket, so plenty of smart money is involved.

lol

State of New York just shut their asses down. This is doubly painful for Dan, because this is bad for smart money, and because everything is better in New York.

I give NY State credit for taking some tough stands...they are the only state that prohibits MMA fights, and now they've dropped the hammer on Fantasy.

I'm sure there will be a report planted in the newspapers that their Attorney General had an affair that you will see in the next few months
