I definitely see others' points about his smarminess, but, unlike most hosts, he is a pretty intelligent dude who has forceful opinions but not in a Bernstein screamy way. He is wrong a lot, but so is everyone. Trying to guess the future is a crapshoot. If anyone could do it consistently, they'd be rich. At least he has a damn opinion.
He also comes off as negative, but I frequently enjoy that because ALL Score Bears guys are overly optimistic player worshippers. If Hub was on a different statuon, the perspective might be different.
I don't think he is all that intelligent and he plays both sides of the fence with his opinions.
Just like Rozner and Rosenbloom, if you give Hub the slightest bit of authority it goes directly to his head. These three are the worst at wielding power that the station employs. They are better when they are forced to work shifts like on 4th of July and Christmas Eve night. It gives them immediate perspective of their place in the world.
