...And Frank thinks Upton is WAY better. I understand its a different caliber of player but it kinda reminds me of when the White Sox had a chance to acquire Barry Bonds and Frank urged them to sign George Bell instead (which they did).

Well besides the fact they traded to get Bell and I think Frank preferred Albert Belle you are close.

Pretty much. Frank said you can either drive the bus or not.

Yeah, Albert Belle is a little different. He was only approaching or exceeding 100 extra-base hits in a typical season during the mid-to-late 90s. That's Babe Ruth territory. Don't know if George Bell ever quite got there....

Awesome. Lil Danny rebut any of that? Or does arguably the greatest right hand hitter in 50 years not know anything?

Frank Thomas for life, but I think we all understand that the guy is a bit of a meathead.

you could tell Dan didn't want to argue with Frank as he thinks Frank is an idiot.

It's too bad, Frank was disagreeing with a lot of what Dan was saying and it would have been a fun fight.

Who? Boers and Bernstein?

You must be listening to a different show than me because they don't even get why the Sox would try and win.

In transition Goff and Asshat asked them their thoughts. They both said they were indifferent to it.

They have went on and said that probably because it is the Sox the deal will end up being bad.

You can hear the Spiegel sigh when Bernstein just didn't want to even engage in discussion. Then even worse he wasn't making sense.

Bernstein said it was a 2-win difference, and 'that's what the numbers say', but Spiegel said Frazier was 4.7 WAR last year (or something close) and Berns countered with 'I just care about net. You lose Trace Thompson who was 2 WAR so there you go. To which...

1) Thompson really projected to be a 2WAR player?
2) The 'net' is Frazier replacing whatever terrible production they would get out of 3B otherwise, not the loss of Thompson.

Per usual, it was Dan being too lazy to have a thought on it so he just barfed out it didn't matter.

DiCaro complained to HR about the term "tranny"

I remember Big Purple said he got a call or a text from someone who was transgendered and asked him to stop saying "tranny." Eliminating legitimate uses of the word "transition" seems ridiculous, but if saying that you don't find certain women hot can get you suspended from college for six months I don't think I'm going to be surprised by anything any more.

Remember that tranny that was a fan of Laurence? I wonder if the search button works for that.....checking....

I found that strange and I never really heard an explanation so thanks.

Adding a guy who was an all star at a position you were pretty horrible at was the difference of only 2 wins?

Yes. I am using made up numbers. Trade Harper (WAR 10) for Harper (WAR 5) and immediately Harper is only a WAR 5! Magic. What a fucking idiot.

He was awfully excited about the .06 WAR Zobrist. Do we have to subtract Fowler's 2.2 from Heyward? What a fucking misuse of statistics!

And Frank is right about some guys driving the bus. Only goofs like li'l danny argue that Evans was better than Rice, because I guarantee no pitcher who ever faced them would.

Is there a stat out there that apportions actual wins to the members of the team?

I think that's what WAR is attempting, but it doesn't exactly add up.

The whole concept of the "replacement player" is completely misunderstood by bernstein. He acts as if that means you grab a guy off the street and you improve on Avi Garcia.

You're right. He wasn't that thrilled with it. But he didn't really dislike it either. Theo made the move so he couldn't do that.

If the Sox got Zobrist he'd laugh

WAR is the stats of the median/mean MLB player right? If so, how the hell do they do the all time stats and comparisons?
