You think he might be trying to argue that the show was aiming for people other than the traditional key demo, and those ratings improvements should have kept the show alive/wasn't the abject failure it appeared to be?

He has repeatedly said he wasn't going to change, that he was going to do it his way. It's a laudable goal if you're doing well, but obviously not if things are going down the shitter.

To be fair, Goff's first tweets about this were very good - took the high road, thanked people for the opportunity - the things you're supposed to say. He's gone off into responding to people who are trying to get his goat - unfortunately, that's working. Just put the twitter machine down and let this pass.

Unless that group of people is a key market for big money advertisers, this was a bad strategy

IIRC, Jason advocated finding out the identity of some racist caller who spawned the eye-rolling "we won't back down from using our platform..." Facebook post on the station's page.

Unpopular opinion but I think Twitter absolutely ruined Bernstein and Goff. They got into their little bubble and thought that was the real world. They never could realize it’s just social media full of trolls. I couldn’t believe they would use twitter as a talking point for segments. “I saw this on twitter today”
