The lack of Cubs renovation approval is Chuy Garcia's fault. He's running as a populist. A man of the people. Who says he's going to take care of the neighborhoods. It would have been a rubber stamp if not for this damn runoff!

BAD OPTICS.

Who could have forseen that it would be cold in Chicago in January and February?

During transition, Jason had the nerve to bring up what a bad trade the tyrus thomas deal was for the Bulls. Dan TMZ then said "and that's Jason Van Gundy" The management water boy strikes again.

I think the appropriate next step is for Bernstein to lead a ritual that features Tom Ricketts, perched atop a pyramid of debris from the demolished bleachers, drinking the blood of black kids who's schools got shut down by Rahm in an effort to please the gods of Corporate Oligarchy enough to allow an early spring.

I do not want to start a Cubs/Sox thing with us here or really discuss the specifics of the renovation. I wonder though if at any point we will ever hear Dan say the Cubs did anything wrong?

The only people who did anything wrong were the voters of the city of Chicago. It's their fault Rahm can't approve round-the-clock labor. If they had rubber-stamped Rahm, then Rahm could rubber-stamp the Cubs. So fuck you, regular people.

Honest answer: When this plan fails to get results the next two years (it will fail to get results the next two years, it may work eventually but it takes time) he will do a complete about-face on the Cubs org. He knows which way the wind blows, he'll do exactly what he did with Emery/Trestman.

"Busch Stadium opened with no bleachers and no one was like WHAT'S WRONG WITH THE CARDINALS!"

Two things.

1) There's a huge difference between the bleachers at Busch Stadium, a minimal part of the stadium, and the bleachers at Wrigley Field, which are an institution such that they had to be significantly expanded in the Cubs' better days of the 2000s.

2) The Ballpark Village around the stadium not only didn't open on time with the new stadium but didn't open for years, and people in St. Louis were absolutely irate that they were promised a major redevelopment of downtown and had nothing to show for it at their All-Star Game but a big puddle of standing water in a patch of gravel.

Bernstein isn't winning much today.

People dont ask whether there's anything wrong with the Cardinals because they make wins out of nothing and dont lose for a half decade on purpose.

Mayoral race meant no 24/7 permit for #Cubs. Garcia hitting Rahm for being too business-friendly, and this would have given him more ammo.

Sure, blame the Mexican, not the tribesmen who didn't plan properly.

This makes little to no sense. Why would Rahm deny a 24/7 permit for a ludicrously popular sports franchise to finish work on their ludicrously popular ballpark? Does he want to win? The runoff is on Apr 7, wouldn't it be a nice bump in the last week of the campaign to be able to point to a somehow finished (and ruined, but w/e) Wrigley Field and be able to say "I made sure this could be done by now"?

This denial seems a lot more like Rickett's biting the hand that feeds than it does posturing for an election.

Wouldn't this also create extra jobs? If there's going to be crews working 24/7, then extra guys will have to be brought in to work.

"If Garcia weren't hitting this issue, maybe it would be different." Maybe Rahm shouldn't have given Chuy this issue to hit.

Here is what I do not get. They are not letting Ricketts put up a bridge from the Hotel to the park yet they let the Sox put on from the parking lot to the stadium? I mean WTF?

It's a ridiculous premise being advanced by bernstein. The 44th Ward is going heavy for Rahm no matter what his decision was on the extended hours. And I highly doubt anyone in any other ward gives a fuck about it.

Because the area around the cell is entirely paved and often terrifying. Nobody's looking to make a National Park out of the empty lot where South Works used to be.

Chicago doesn't like skywalks. We're not Minneapolis.

What is Dan on about with this thing about the land under left field falling into a sinkhole or something?

Although, I remember years ago they did construction the Dan Ryan at night so as not to disturb rush hour. I thought that was a great idea but I guess it didnt work out
