I guess Dan at least changed his tune a little with a different excuse (still sucks). Loved when callers or texters raised this point and he'd yell "They know they need pitching! Good Gawd!"

That is the kind of thing that just burns my ass and shows how they are in the bag as the flagship. Sure be proud of Theo/Jed and their plan and WS win to date. It was not perfect though and other teams with other plans are doing quite well lately.

Theo and Jed should have to give a percentage of their salary from this year to Jim Hendry. It ain't Theo and Jed picks that are keeping this team afloat.

And lets not forget that the WS win wasn't really a super dominant win -- probably one or two bounces that go the other way and they lose that WS, and then what is the mood of everyone? It's a damn good thing they won it or I think Maddon would be on the chopping block this year.

One or two bounces would have changed a lot of championship outcomes. There is no designation for "super dominant win." Flags fly forever.

Everyone agrees that Maddon got lucky as hell in game 7. They won in spite of him.

When you sweep a series, one or two bounces would not have changed the outcome.

Magical run where every opposing team's Ace was injured.

They weren't hurt. They were all just on one team

You’re misremembering. We saw a healthy a Clemens and chased him quick.

11-1 says it all. Even bad luck wouldn’t have changed that outcome.

Clemens left in the 2nd inning with a hammy that was clearly bothering him through those first two innings. His dumb wife probably spiked his gatorade with HER human growth hormones.

Didn't AJ run to first base when the Sox were losing in a game where they were already down 0-1 in the Angels series? And didn't that end up being a close/1-run/extra inning type game? Hell I wanna say there were two outs when AJ scampered down to first. There's your opportunity for a bounce or two.

Or hell, when El Duque came in with the bases loaded and 0 outs against the red Sox. There's another.

Correct on A.J., bad call by ump or Angels probably sweep, but it was El Duque with the magic act in Fenway, not Grandpa Contreras.

Perhaps one of these years Cubs fans will see their team execute a playoff series sweep, and a manager who knows what in the hell he is doing in the postseason.

They have played MANY postseason games recently, but these things haven't happened.

Pretty convenient excuse for a guy that was getting his shit rocked.

All Boers and Bernsy did most of the time was rip callers for 4 hours. 3 and 1/2 if they interviewed someone.

At least Silvy and Waddle talked sports.

Maddon was great up until the last 2 games. Several shrewd moves.

Anyway, Kyle Hendricks had the most dominating single post season game pitching performance in Chicago post-season history.

No need to make a show thread for one post but the awful one was egging Bernsie on for the SJW talk today. Had to spend time on OSU and Urban Meyer. Assistant coach had wife/domestic issues. Why they had to dissect it? IDK?

I haven't but many people outside of Chicago have completely forgotten about the 2005 WS.

Most people forget about every championship in every sport that doesn't involve their team. Not all that surprising.

Ever since the new lineup was released I would always listen to podcasts starting with the midday Transition and then just let the rest of B&M play out. Sometimes I got bored and switched over to M&P podcasts but most of the time I just listened to B&M. After a heavy dose of B&M recently and listening to Parkins return, M&P is going to be my first listen moving forward.

The reason is McKnight. He's boring and has the annoying tendency of constantly trying to sound smart. A neutered Dan Bernstein doesn't move the meter for me and can't carry the show like he has done with lesser cohosts in the past. Plus, this friendlier Bernstein comes across as insincere and fake. I'm not going to boycott the show like I did B&G but it has moved a rung down the ladder for me.

Listening to Hub a little bit this morning makes me realize some of the reasons I dislike him are the same as why I dislike McKnight. They both sound nervous, unsure of themselves, mealy-mouthed, and often trip all over themselves while talking.

He could be talking about something I like, but hearing him use the tone you described where he tries to make his thoughts sound so important and profound makes me start to dislike the thing he's talking about that I actually like.

He has a real God-given gift for being an obnoxious, pedantic douche.
