He turned down a pay cut that The SCORE was offering at the time. If I remember correctly, North was earning about $1.5 million, but WSCR 670 was offering about 1/2 of that in his last contract offer. North simply walked away from the table and left The SCORE completely.

I thought he was let go after not being able to hit 95 mph fastballs in the batting cage, they cant have hosts running around not being able to do something that most guys should be able to do easily.

Well, most of my guys are in the Hall of Fame. I can understand why some guys wouldnt say anything bad about Mike. He did a lot to promote the sport. The truth is he was better at hoops. He could shoot the rock. Thats the straight dope.
