my main point was that the Bulls can't attract stars. I don't think there's an argument for that.

Besides the Lebron Wade and Bosh situaton in which none of them were coming here anyway what stars have made it to free agency that the Bulls should have gotten?

Yes there is. Rose seems very happy and content here.

they fell into that pick and he is a Chicago guy. It's sad that he'll likely finish his career in Chicago without a championship. You're not really refuting my point with that comment.

Thats ridiculous speculation on your part. Look at what Dirk did with the Mavs. Im sure Dallas fans were saying the same thing. They are really only a piece or two away. They dont need a huge LeBron-like star.

When is the last big time FA, outside of LeBron, who transformed a team into a championship team? LeBron and Shaq are really the only guys I can think of in the past 15 years.

Edit: And yes, what I said directly refutes your point. Perhaps your point was poorly worded?

I would have taken Rudy Gay, and I would have gone after Bosh hardcore. They were never going to get LeBron & Wade, I understand that. Scola? Stoudemire?

So you're saying you think that the Bulls can attract big names? Yes or no?

So you're saying you think that the Bulls can attract big names? Yes or no?

- Gay resigned with Memphis. That literally was impossible to ask them to do.
-Stoudemire is garbage and will almost certainly be out of the league before Boozer
-They went after Bosh. Still, he hasnt been a better player than Boozer has the past two seasons.
- Scola is a latin Carlos Boozer with a much better contract

K. What else?

The Bulls would be in worse shape with Stoudamire than Boozer  Rudy Gay is an OK player but not an upgrade over Deng IMO and oh my god Luis Scola? Seirously? And honestly no I don't believe the Bulls have a problem attracting stars. I just think that stars in the NBA are a limited commodity and every team has trouble getting more than one or two on the roster. That's why its tough to build a championship roster.

I do. I think that team was formed in a back-alley deal in Beijing in 2008.

and I think Stoudemire would have been a great player with Rose. Obviously that is opinion. What is not opinion is that Tom thinks Taj Gibson is a better player than Boozer. Or at least that the Bulls are a better team at the end of the game with Gibson on the floor.

Look what has come of me boldly suggesting that the Bulls were run poorly between Jordan and Rose.

and I initially wasn't defending what you said, because I don't think that the Bulls are incredibly poorly run. They just seem to want to build in a OKC manner but they can't draft like OKC.

Gay is not really much better than Deng, no.

Gibson is better at the end of games than Boozer. The Bulls usually are protecting a lead at that point. Its the converse of the same logical reasoning behind having Boozer start games.

well, there it is then. I completely disagree that Chicago should be the 5th to 6th best team in the NBA.

And I'll concede that at least Reinsdorf negotiated with an agent on Thibodeau's behalf, which was a real breakthrough for him. Defend that little quirk.

Well shit, me too.

White Sox should be the best team in MLB.
The Packers should be the best team in the NFL.
The Bulls should be the best team in the NBA.
The Blackhawks should be the best team in the NHL.

The Bulls could unload Boozer right now. He could be off their cap by dinner time tonight if they wanted him to be.

I agree that they SHOULD get rid of Boozer and that Taj is better all-around player. It's hard to argue against that.

and as for Gay versus Deng, I think over the long haul that Gay will prove to be the better player. I am very skeptical of Deng having another season like his last.

 stupid keyboard. Chicago should be in the top 3 in the NBA. No other sport is so media market centered.

Player 2 is also a much better defender, and a good argument can be made that Player 1's team plays better without him. So there's that too.

Hindsight is 20/20. We didnt know about Gibson yet. In the summer of 2010 they badly needed a PF. That fact is undeniable.

Dont worry. This happened for a short, worrisome time with Hank Scorpio too. Then he went back to being an idiot. Im assuming you'll likewise regress to the mean soon.

I agree that they SHOULD get rid of Boozer and that Taj is better all-around player. It's hard to argue against that.

so...they really didn't need Boozer, did they?

Hindsight is 20/20. We didnt know about Gibson yet. In the summer of 2010 they badly needed a PF. That fact is undeniable.

I thought they needed a center more than a PF. And under no circumstances did they need Boozer.

and as for Gay versus Deng, I think over the long haul that Gay will prove to be the better player. I am very skeptical of Deng having another season like his last.

 stupid keyboard. Chicago should be in the top 3 in the NBA. No other sport is so media market centered.

 Over the long haul?

I'm pretty sure we basically know who each one is. At best, they are equal. Deng is probably slightly better.
