Assuming his inability to play could be settled through some kind of insurance / injury settlement, there wasn't much downside to signing him. The real risk was going with Caleb Hanie as a backup.

Hey, we can rip on Larry all we want, but good for him getting Rozner on to talk about the NHL lockout, something the afternoon show he frequently sits in on couldn't be arsed to do. After all, those are minutes spent not talking about the Bears' head coaching search, presented to you by Buffalo Wild Wings: Wings, Beer, Sports.

Wouldn't you agree that there is a certain amount of risk involved in signing a quarterback who missed a year due to major neck surgery, especially given Peyton Manning's age and the wear and tear on him? It's not like it was a guarantee that Peyton would be good. No one knew how well he would hold up this year.

Except that he was a pungent douche criticizing the signing at the time. Now if he wants to step up and out himself in the process then there is merit to the statement. But to claim it to be something special as if it is original thought...is like used pungent douche.

This only tangentially relates to your post but since you're comparing Dan to a giant douche I figured I'd add this. A few days ago Terry was making a point about how great the Redskins drafted since it netted them RGIII, Kirk Cousins, and Alfred Morris. Dan agreed in part but not before throwing some shade at Cousins. While he made a halfway valid point eventually, pointing out that Cousins would likely be on a different team in a couple of years, Dan appears to go out of his way to let us know that he prefers his athletes to be black. While he wasn't directly pointing this out his knee-jerk response to Terry's mention of Cousins wasn't "Hey, you're right, he was able to step in and win a game as a backup whereas Cutler's backup essentially cost the Bears their 2011 season" but rather was dismissive "meh".

It's one thing to make fun of people who worship the Ecksteins of the sports world for their thinly veiled racism, but at some point Dan's trolling of these people results in dumb, lazy thoughts.

I've been singing the title to the tune of "Baby You're A Rich Man" all afternoon.

The actual song's lyrics are unintelligible and replaced in the lyric sheet with a big anti-corporate/consumerist screed. It's not on youtube, though :(, despite being one of the standout tracks on the album in its own weird murky way.

The closing credits song for WKRP is 100% unintelligible babble, to prove the point that words in rock were pointless.

Now, for no particular reason, here's this completely unrelated gem.

I'm starting to realize how unconnected Hub really is. I don't know how good his reputation used to be - back in the day, but if he had one, that's all he's living on right now. I used to think he was just tired of talking to B&B, which is totally understandable, but his attitude and disconnect is displayed on all the shows. Maybe he's just tired of doing what he's doing.

If search worked, I would say look up a post Irish Boy wrote on him a couple years ago. He really broke down how worthless Hub is, in the internet age.

Well technically he/she is correct (which incidentally is a bureaucrat's favorite kind of correct) since mom's in the car with him/her rather than in the house. :D Of course one could argue there is greater leeway afforded to where a "home" begins as compared to where a house begins.

I get what you are saying but people knew well enough for a $20 million market to emerge.

My favorite Bronco thought by both B and B of 2012 was that the Broncos had nothing at WR going into this season. It wasn't like Decker and Thomas proved them wrong, the statement was already wrong the moment it came out of their mouths.
