Incorrect. I'm a squirrel who has no trouble finding nuts.

Do we know if the fantastic photo "taken" by Danny B of LITTLE DANNY and his LOVE has been forwarded to the "proper" parties?

I'd like to add the Hawk. The first baseball game I ever watched live was in St. Louis. I was very young, and we sat along the first base side. Dawson threw a fucking rope to nail a Cardinal at home that saved the game. Most beautiful throw I've seen to this day.

Absolutely.

I was remiss not to mention him.

Almost all his throws in his Cub days were perfect one hop strikes

Though I did think the picture was in bad taste, the post of mine you quoted was in reference to a "rule" bigfan made about discussing wives, children and girfriends. It was in regard to the post where zizou called Dan Bernstein's wife vapid amongst other things.

Now that I know the picture rule, everything is groovy... 8)

I doubt it has; do feel free to be proactive about it though and share with the class if there are any happy returns.

"Bob's movie review" is one of the big reasons I've stopped listening. I laugh when Terry gets mildly disoriented or mumbly and nonsensical, those are his best moments these days, but the whole Bob in Niles thing is way different. Bob clearly has a problem and they just take advantage of him. I can't understand how anyone involved lets this happen. Dementia isn't funny material, it's just sad and laughing at it is pathetic.

I agree--the way that this is permitted by the great.moral.arbiters of things is just galling, it's not funny and it's at times abusive.

When Bob would just call in, I used to think it was somewhat nice of them to let him on to talk sports and be patient with him. That goodwill went away fast.

Interesting how they can "evolve" above or beyond gay jokes but not making fun of someone that is OBVIOUSLY not "all there."

Must not be affecting SQevents biz? doesn't do too many funeral luncheons perhaps?

Precisely why any of their previous overly effected pretentious stances on beliefs or behaviors (replete with their righteous indignation of anyone who doesn't openly agree) is now complete bullshit. The "Bob" or "Mike" or whomever, not quite sexual assault but ahead of the homosexuality/Christianity/bullying diatribes they are too quick to resurrect. The utter bullshit of their talk of CTE is that they really don't understand how the discovery of CTE came to be, or one of the more prominent arguments challenging the notion of CTE.

Watching the neurological degeneration of anyone's brain is never amusing. Never.

That's a good point--B &B's constant use of the high horse to trumpet the (very very early) science of CTE and then to put a guy who clearly has serious brain issues on every Friday afternoon to mock him is more than just inconsistent, it's icky. But if you think about it, it probably fits their M.O. well: I'm sure they've donated some $$ to Bob's home and caregivers and some other charity bullshit response, so they feel justified in doing it. And like lots of mentally challenged people who are exploited, Bob himself probably loves the attention. When in actuality the whole bit is straight-up shock jock "let's laugh at the retard" stuff...

This is what bothers me the most about the Bob in Niles bit; Bob probably really loves talking to these guys each week. It's pretty likely that Bob doesn't get a ton of personal attention and certainly nothing like the personal platform that B&B give him each week. Taking advantage of Bob's love for their show just so they can giggle at his mental state while he eats up some of their air time is pretty lame. They're not just the "let's laugh at the retard" guys, they're the "What? We aren't laughing at the retard. We're his friends!" guys.

Sure. I felt like there were a lot of people who had a little more fun with SHARK than I thought was appropriate. I lost my temper with him from time to time, sure, but it was only because I was under the misconception that he was capable of taking some advice or having conversations.

I don't know if I would characterize him the way you did. Maybe you didn't mean it that way, but from everything I know of SHARK, he's just a guy.

I too wasn't a fan of the way he was treated here. Before I knew anything about him, I was guilty of maybe poking too much fun his way. We talked and that was that.

I know a lot of people around here dug him, a lot didn't, but he was harmless.

The Bob in Niles thing is especially weird considering Bernstein's impassioned speech on Dementia when Pat Summit got it

YOU CANT TREAT IT. MEMORY EXERCISES AND PAT SUMMIT'S WILL ARE NOT CURE'S. THIS IS A TERRIBLE DISEASE.

I think they realize that it's coming to an end. The last few times I've heard them doing it, there were very few things to even smirk about.

If it's entertaining, I don't care about the hypocrisy. Just make sure it's funny or you're just being mean for the sake of being mean. That sort of comedy should be left to the professionals...

And here's another thing, they have many many regular callers who are weird (not sick) that they could bring on once a week and mock. Its just such an odd choice.

I don't know what "just a guy" is supposed to mean. I believe he eventually disclosed being on the autism spectrum, albeit in an oblique way. I do know that he struggled with a lot of the unwritten vagaries of interacting on a forum and seemed more unwilling than unable to learn the give and take of it, as we all must.
