Saying Dan Bernstein self-righteousness is hypocritical is whining? Wasn’t aware that Bernstein was off-limits.

badrogue gets offended by everything. He has 15 twitter accounts to go after Julie DiCaro.

Dan Bernstein made a mistake and badrogue still thinks it is relevant now. It's pretty clear he was offended by it in combination with who said it.

A mistake?

How many "mistakes" does someone get to make before it's who they are?

Wildebeests, breeding, MOVE, titsgate, mocking mentally ill senior citizens, using stereotypical voices... are those all just "mistakes"?

JORR is correct... people need to stop being self-righteous and none of this would matter. Bernstein only gets shit for this because his Twitter account looks like Mother Teresa fucked Mort Goldman and taught their offspring how to use a computer.

Let's not forget calling NBA players "Wang-Whippers". You missed that one. He was in his 40s when calling black people "Wildebeests" and "Wang-Whippers".

Let's be honest here. Those names were code for "N***ers".

So I really don't want to hear Bernstein brag about how he lives in Chicago so his kids can see brown people. Sell that shit to Goff, Dan. Cuz he was the idiot that believed it. When I told him not to.

He cares about being smarter than the people he is critiquing.

He sees a Mandingo fight and doesnt think "what an inhumane practice!"

He thinks "Im smarter than that slave owner BY FAR"

Agreed. You could put a picture of him in the dictionary under "Limousine Liberal."

The problem with people on Twitter (PoT*) is that they are SO over the top with things that there's no way they are that outraged. For example, if you really think Donald Trump is going to turn your people into lamp shades, wouldn't you do more about it than post on Twitter? It's all about looking smart or virtuous, thus the term "virtue signalling." I'm not a big fan of the stereotypical labels like "SJW's" or "virtue signalling", but there is really no phrase that better encapsulates people like Dan Bernstein. Maybe "intellectual signalling," as you have outlined above.

I'm not defending Bernstein. I liked him much better before he had to change the way he did radio so he could stay employed. I'm just pointing out that Bernstein became everything that people wanted who constantly complained about him.

I think MANY of us wanted him to keep doing what he was doing so we could hate listen and complain about him here. His demotion was a Pyrrhic victory.

The research about football seems to indicate the issue is not the one time injuries but the constant hits to the head that are inherent to the game. It's defensible that hockey where you can't check is acceptable given that type of action is not common.

Yeah, it’s the same as playing football.

It's not about concussions. It's about getting hit in the head 40 times in a 3 hour game and then even in practice.

In terms of constant hits to the head, it certainly is.

Yep not even close. Bob is being intentionally obtuse...in other words he’s being Bob.

It's not. In fact USA football has moved to rugby style tackling to eliminate head shots and now being phased in are mandatory 2 point stances for all lineman as well. And you are talking about strict rules in terms of kids of the same size/weight matching up vs each other.

putting a kid @ goalie vs grown men is much more dangerous.

The USA football rules do lessen the amount of head hits but it's still far more than what a goalie would have no matter who they are playing with. In football, even with those rules in place, there are hits to the head on virtually every play. It may be a different player or it may be less obvious because it happens on the line but it happens virtually every play.

Once the 2 point stance is enforced across all age levels, no there will not be a hit to the head on every play. Otherwise a flag should be thrown. The only instance now is when you have lineman in 3 point stances engaging out of their stances into each other. linebacker on WR with helmet contact should always draw a flag.

The obvious answer here would be if football could virtually remove hits to the head then I'm sure Bernstein would be fine with it. When he said what he did at the time it wasn't anywhere close to true.

I'm skeptical of safety advances like that. It will certainly lessen it but around the lines it will be hard to completely eliminate hard shell helmets from contacting each other pretty often.

For the record, I feel it should be the parents decision. I feel youth football is much safer and as I understand it, youth hockey is much safer too. He just comes off as a hypocrite. Having an 8th grader player with grown men is pretty reckless IMO.. What about slap shots?

Bernstein only cares when it is his kid, anyway. He likes watching other (poor) people's kids destroy their brains.

As a youth football coach, if I ever sanctioned/approved any type of match up with 8th graders vs High School players(forget adults), I would be banned from coaching in USA, Pop Warner leagues for life.
