It is always amazing to me how people that supposedly do not ever listen to the SCORE have so many opinions and strong takes on their shows.

I forgot how produced the Score used to sound in the early 2000s. They had the classic jingle package where the choir sings the call letters, for crying out loud. Funny how only the Boers and Bernstein jingle from that package persisted well into the 2010s.

Jesus, there's so much in that intro, including a full Scoreboard Update with scores, interview highlights, game previews AND stock market numbers?!

Dan opening up the show complaining about how Joe Buck is biased towards the Yankees is such a sports goober thing he would later mock people endlessly for noting.

Great show that day

Some of us used to listen a lot until pricks like Bernstein made it not listenable any more.

Even once-indomitable 780 WBBM now sounds like a high school project. Not only do they not have Chopper 780 anymore they simply rely on the tip line/looking at Google Maps/IDOT figures. Gone the days of Bart Shore, Neil Fiorrito is the best they’ve got and he can barely get through the read sometimes. Not that info is worth a damn, just look at your phone. Completely fell off a cliff after the virus.

And the problem is Google Maps has somehow regressed massively in its traffic. So you’re not quite flying blind but its not like before.

I listen on the Audacy app all the time. I just look at the chapters to see what I want to listen to. It is the only way I keep with Chicago sports since I dumped my DH subscription years back.

I think the morning show is fine. It’s a representative sports talk radio show.

I can’t & don’t want to imagine a Harris/Rahimi pairing because they’re both somehow independently the worst.

The morning show is MILES ahead of Harris and Leila. It is not even close. There is no way they can keep these two together.

I listen to some of the morning and afternoon drives every day. It's getting to the time of year I'll also be listening to the early evening. Weekends are pretty good when they are local

Bernstein has been on cruise control. The fact that the rest of the hosts are blah was not a reason to keep him around.

The morning show is fine. They stick to sports and bring a lot guests on. It is a solid way to catch up on yesterday’s games. The rest of the shows seem to lack purpose. They are not funny. They are not fun. The Afternoon show is just two weird dudes gushing about things men do. “I was walking around Hyde Park thinking about the way Nico Hoerner swings the bat. Then I went into this great authentic Taco Place.” “Wow, yeah they really missed Nico’s bat in Japan. How were the tacos?”

 Exactly

Congrats to both of you, I could not agree more.

Haugh's need to always cite how many minutes long a press conference was or what time a game ended or grouping adjectives into (usually rhyming) groups of three + Dustin blathering as if he were straight out of central casting as to what the lonely guy at the end of the bar's take was on last night's game = woof. Add to that the meandering non-questions from the addled Mully? Well, scary that this the station's far and away best show. No doubt the volume of guests is what carries this show - would just be nice if the hosts could ask a simple question and get out of the way (and not feel the need to answer it five different ways AS they are "asking" it).

Very true. Most questions asked are opinions or questions that are asked 3 different ways combined with an opinion or context before they get to the question.

Just ask the question. Sport questions that are fairly obvious shouldn't need a 2 minute introduction.

Probably the most fun I ever had on the board was around 2012-13, when the B&B ALS gave way to making fun of Senor Columnist. And it was like me, Dave In Champaign, ZephMarshack, Kirkwood, and SpiralStairs all clowning on Dan as he got increasingly weird and self-indulgent. It was spirited, and I think it was part of why the people who started the new message board made sure not to let me in. But, as the board meme goes, we were listening, and the stuff here never came from the same place as the usual "I hate dat Bernstine guy" fare. But no one's ever going to make a fun arch-nemesis out of anyone there now. Good while it lasted, I guess.

I think one of Dan’s worst transgressions is acting like LeBron is better than MJ just to be contrarian.

Nah, he mailed it in long ago. They need an identity, and Dan is a tedious listen with his inability to enjoy sports.

This was fun to listen to. Didn't start listening until the summer of '04 when I worked at IDOT. Know you're not a fan but this was fun to listen to. Nostalgia at its finest!

I found a whole folder of my old avatars and some of these, I don't know what the hell I possibly could have been referencing. Why did I put Duncan Keith on the videotape art for I'm Gonna Git You Sucka? The ones I do remember, I'm gonna make into a collage for whatever audio I upload.

EDIT: Dan calling that one guy's girlfriend a "walking, talking sex object," even for proto-woke 2012, shit, dude.

Yeah unfortunately the smart dumb guys won. Dan was never more annoying than when he was glazing analytics (Joe Sheehan convo’s…utterly unlistenable) but it’s not like he was wrong. Those guys won, and in the process absolutely destroyed the joy of watching both pro basketball and Major League Baseball.

I miss the daily show threads. I miss Dan tying himself in knots over Derrick Rose’s knee and Dan’s increasing frustration of Rose’s refusal to Listen To The Doctors. I miss Señor Columnist. I guess this is growing up.
