Would have been the anti-Bears hire.

Thank you, Moon.

Hiring a guy who wants to completely change the way a failing organization is run is true change.

“Chris may have scared them a little bit,” former Bears college scouting director Greg Gabriel told "The Boers and Bernstein Show" on 670 The Score.

If he wasn’t going to have things exactly the way he wanted them, he's not going to put himself in a situation where he’s going to fail. He doesn’t want to go into a situation and be like Phil Emery and two years later be fired.”

Laugh out fucking loud.

First of all, Phil had three years Greg.

The Bears let Phil run the show and he fucked it up badly. No one here believes for a fucking second that Ted said to hire tresty or told him to miss on 75% of his draft picks.

http://www.csnchicago.com/bears/bears-g ... e-red-flag

But what would Moon know? He only has 20 years worth of sources.

His sources said after week 17 that Tresty would stay.

My sources said he was gone the second week in October.

So...in this case Moon had no source and is just repeating what a former scout said.

Rozner just said that to say that Phillips didn't (and doesn't) have control, and veto power, over personnel decisions "is absurd". He's the president of the organization...of course he has that power, Rozner said. He also seemed to agree with Moon that George and Ted were scared with Ballard wanting full control of the organization to run things. Seems to me like a far cry from Danny's stance today. I think Danny's full of shit and he's too dug into his position now to acknowledge that Pace doesn't have full autonomy.

"As the announcement of the decision was coming out, one member of the NFL hierarchy told CSNChicago.com that Ballard came into his meeting with chairman George McCaskey and Phillips and “told them how he wanted it all to go,” the source said. “Sometimes when you tell people what they need to hear, it’s too much for them.”

Does that sound like a former scout?

Trestman was cheap. No way I think Emery had the authority to go get a guy like Nick Saban or Bill Cowher or a real high profile coach and pay him whatever it took.

Bill Cowher was approached by any number of teams in the last five years.

Nick Saban turned tail and ran away from the NFL. He's not high on anyone's list in the league.

The particular guy isn't the point. I'm saying Pace does not have the power to hire whoever he wants and make the call on what to pay him.

Once again, Teddy is happy to get wang-whipped for 5 million a year. I would be too.

$5 million???

Not by all accounts. Not by the accounts that own the team.

angelo had to keep DICK JAURON. Emery had to keep Lovie. The next coach will be saddled with Cutler even though he won't want him.

This organization sucks.

Doc, Ted can't possibly be involved in football operations or anyone with half a brain would have fired him years ago.

I don't think he's going to tell him who to draft.

I don't think he'll have to tell him who to hire because Pace will ask if his hire is okay first. That's the real understanding. That's why he has the job. Ballard made it perfectly clear he wouldn't work under those conditions and so he wasn't offered the job.

And I think when it's a high dollar deal he's going to have to clear it with Phillips. For example, they're going to eat a bunch of money if they dump Cutler. I believe that within the Bear offices, that's not considered a "football move" but rather a financial move that falls under the auspices of Phillips. The problem with that is it makes Phillips a co-GM. And that's exactly what the callers who are getting dan so exasperated are saying.

Exactly. I am 100% in charge of the home improvement projects around my house. However, if I wanted to spend $1000 on a new table saw you bet your ass my wife would need to sign off on it.

We don't know that yet.

We do know that Pace's predecessors hired their own choice and that the Bears paid off the contracts when they belly up. And to your point JORR, Angelo sought Saban and was turned down by him.

The Bears are the wrong place to learn. Ted and George...mentors!

B&B have these comments made on THEIR SHOW...by their OWN "EXPERT" but yet still maintain their position that Ryan has complete control!?!?!

It is as if he is trying not to lose his source at Halas. So now he is playing nice and just repeating whatever his guy at Halas wants him to say.

i forgot to compliment Matty for being able to articulate the fan concern that Phillips can veto the GM's moves.... bernstein couldnt even answer the direct question can phillips veto a GM move. That was a simple question that callers have been complaining about since the process began and finally abbatacola was able to pin bernstein down and ask it...

you and I were listening to two different press conferences. Y'know, the one where Ted says the GM will report to him on financial matters...
