I'm in Chicago for a couple of days visiting family, so I put on the first couple of hours of today's show in the car; I got to my hotel before High Noon started. I had not listened since my last trip here in June, when I had to PTFB on LoHo.
Marshall is an improvement over Laurence because he's mostly inoffensive and steers Dan away from social pontificating. His thoughts are not particularly great but not particularly awful. Leila is superfluous, and a Leila/Marshall show when Dan gets his salary cut enough to decide to retire will still be better than Jurko. Dan's just playing out the string in year #30 and I won't be surprised if he decides to leave at his 30th anniversary.
The show is not a top-half show in Score history, but it's no worse than the local Raleigh ACC and Hurricanes-heavy talk I get at home. On the daily commute I used to have, I would probably split my time between this, Dan Patrick, and music.
So far, Marshall hasn't really taken the bait when Dan decides to act like Keith Olbermann. Will that last? Probably not, but it's been better than Lawrence adding to what Dan says in a slow, serious voice.
