The transition today between mid-morning show and afternoon had both Dans being friendly with one another. Mac offered Bernstein fish he caught last year and there was talk of Bernstein seeming to be "happier." Perhaps Goff wasn't ONLY making listeners miserable.

Not hearing Goff during transition do his low voiced, serious NBA talk, as if he's schooling his co-workers, makes me happy.

There's no way Dan would have been able to do his "Loyola run: enjoy it!" show without "oh you say DAAA I LIKE DA ATMASPHEER AN DEY PLAY DA GAME DA RIGHT WAY yeah yeah yeah tell us what you really mean" and then trying to get a dude fired for tweeting "Goof your gay NBA has too many thugs."

I think The HFC and B&B would have done the same, or at least have said they're getting sick of seeing her on TV so much, but Old Bernsie would have been nastier and likely thrown in a "Maybe she should be protecting children from the diddling priests instead of spending her time at basketball games." comment.

I gotta admit: I like the new Bernsie.

Its a lot easier for me to listen when I don't want to smash someone's face in with a paperweight.

Just like the psychological phenomenon of smiling and then, by sheer association, actually feeling happier, having Danny B. lose the negativity has probably opened up a lot of things in him that are sure to cascade into a more positive delivery and outlook. I hate that Speigel co-opted the beautifully perfect observation by Conan that cynicism accomplishes nothing, but it is so apropos here. It is so great hearing hm actually welcome and interact with callers. He had a total "Come to Jesus" moment, and it seems as if he is one of the few, talented individuals who could actually adapt to a new way of doing things, instead of cowering into a hopeless shell of self-doubt and/or resentment like many would. That's willpower right there, and it is to be applauded.
