Is there any chance the station changes the lineup before the baseball season really gets going? I guess it depends on how would that look from a public relations perspective? As a fan, I wouldn't care as long as there is a good pairing in the 9-1 slot. You made a mistake, switch hosts, and move on.

Grote and Bernstein would be solid. I wouldn't discount Spiegs and Bernstein, either. Maybe Spiegs and Bernstein 9-noon, TBD noon-2, Mac and Parkins 2-6.

I don't think McKnight is going anywhere soon with DeCastro in charge unless the ratings are really bad.

You can always team Parkins up with Bernstein temporary and then sign a certain former 670 duo my friend. Light em up!!!

I often like it when hosts talk about food as it can be a silly, entertaining diversion from the ol' sports-a-roo, but Bernstein and McKnight doing it makes me want to PTFB. Between Bernstein's tendency to be pedantic and McKnight's...innate McKnightness that most here seem to dislike, it turns something that is usually enjoyable into a discussion between two fussy little bitches.

I’m guessing it was the discussion about the new Oreo flavor contest and past weird flavors. The I’m Fat podcast guys had to be the voices of reason. As a surprise to no one Dan said he only liked regular Oreos and Connor would only go so far as to say he’d eat Double Stuff. Neither of them were keen on the contest flavors of Kettle Corn, Pina Colada, and Cherry Cola (with added Pop Rocks!).

Media problem in general. Pretty much all the Gawker/Vice/etc Brooklyn bloggers also do open mics and fancy themselves comedians.

John OliverJohn Stewart/Stephen Cuck Colbert effect

It's Twitter.

But yeah, comedians doing a news bit =/= journalists doing comedy. I watched a video of Eve Peyser trying to do stand-up. It wasn't standard Brooklyn girl "uhhhhhhh I watch TV with my cat, uhhhhhhh, my vagina," it was worse.

Neal Brennan once said that if you've never stood onstage with a mic and tried to hammer out 5 minutes, you're not a comedian. regardless of how many RT or Likes your internet bullshit gets you

Double stuffed Oreos are over-rated. What makes an Oreo an Oreo is how, after dunked in milk, it manages to be at once soggy and crunchy. You don't get that out of a Double Stuffed.

I thought Crashing was an exaggeration of how unfunny and hipster the low end of the comedic scene is in NY but that video is almost a direct scene

It was what KDdidit said. If two other people had been discussing the same thing it might have been funny, but with these two it was just eye roll inducing and made me change the station.

I think I figured out what I don't like about McKnight: Everything he says sounds like it is scripted. I just heard him go on a 5 minute romp around the Cubs bullpen to arrive at "Carl Edward's Jr. is good and should be used less", and it is indistinguishable from when he spends 5 minutes reading an article he found.

Theres no sense of originality in anything he says.

That makes sense. He's always been an assembly-line guy. He knows which marks to hit on the way to being The Smart Guy Who Knows Better Than You, but without any critical thinking of his own or any of the neuroses and idiosyncrasies that made Dan endearing once.

Both of you guys nailed it.

There is just a nothingness to McDoink. He loves the baseball metrics and all of those cool stats. He reads a lot of shit and recites it like you guys say. But he has no personality or thoughts of his own.

Bring Goff's ass back if this was the answer.

Spmack is right. They got their "safe" guy. Christ.

When was the last time Dan brought up Ivan Calderon in conversation?

i take a few issues with Bernsie's points on the Matt P stuff:

1) "The time since the crime does not matter." Well for that specific crime it does not. But if the guy has been clean since that time, it is more likely that incident in question did not happen as originally alleged. Meaning, if Matt was a serial abuser of women, then all of us would be more inclined to believe the first "victim" without seeing all the evidence.

2) The fact that there were charges brought is evidence of his guilt. Well, yes, it means the prosecutors believed the victim. But let's not make him guilty because of that. There are two sides to every story.

Not defending Matt here, but just pushing back slightly on Bernsie's positions.
