I know of several pro athletes who wanted to move their mom out of the old neighborhood but they didn't want to go. Jennifer Hudson's mom tragically didn't want to move. Is it elitist to automatically assume that someone should move out of their neighborhood at the first opportunity? People move for various reasons and many of those reasons are valid enough to stand on their own. Conversely, those that stay have reasons that are easy to dispute when being dismissive of those reasons.

Rosenbloom has a condenscending POV based upon comments he has made over the years. Sometimes being snarky doesn't hide one's true ignorance or prejudice.

You know the answer.

"This neighborhood has really gone downhill." = "There are too many brown skinned people here."
I don't know where you or JORR live but saying things like this is often just a way for patting themselves on the back for the neighborhood they live in. Any person would be stupid not to look at crime statistics and drive around and look at the amount of graffiti and the state of repair of the houses and businesses of the area just like they look at proximity to work and affordability.

Of course some people probably say "No minorities please!" but no one should have to apologize for choosing any neighborhood they want.

"This neighborhood has really gone downhill." = "Higher crime, gang activity, graffiti, poorly maintained buildings".

It's a complicated thing, Rick. But I'm fairly certain that Tom Ricketts has never really known a working class black person is his life. In his view they are likely to be either aldermen ("good people I know and consider friends") or criminals (based on statistics). For that matter, I think danny bernstein is pretty much in the same boat. It comes out in the wonderment he shows at "black people things" in conversations with Goff or the way he is awed by the CBA players he has known ("That guy clips his toenails just like me! And he likes his Waffle House hash browns the same way I do!").

That's probably true and I'd say your "overcompensation" angle on Bernstein seems pretty accurate too.

Kind of like determining where the Upper East Side ends and East Harlem begins. I've met a few people who've moved to Chicago without driving around to see the neighborhood but chose the location based upon proximity to work and affordability. Others who moved close to downtown so their kids could attend a top high school. In the case of the former there has been regret and disillusion with Chicago, in the case of the latter the clock is ticking on when they will move out.

As for me I don't have $400K to buy the condo I want for my daughter, and proximity to work and not living in the Bronx or Queens means a compromise.

ricketts is a phony douche..he is only placating the alderman to get a city vote for money for his dumb ass...fuck this clown..i hope he gets zero dollars..i did not want this moron to buy the team, and money was only one reason why...to me it is common sense that when you get money you upgrade...get rid of a shitty car for a nicer one..move off a shitty block to a better one..does not matter the city ..if you live in brownsville and won the lotto i would expect 99.9% of the time that winner is moving...same with englewood .

Agreed Rick. I was being facetious.

From a Black Mans perspective, imo there is nothing wrong with moving from an area where violence etc isn't being solved. Also if you have children how do they become diverse if all they see are people who look like them? Last point bad analogy on Jennifer Hudson the guy who killed her family was a former in law not a random break in.
