I could see that rule. It's different than a scuffle that may occur in other sports. You have to run a good distance to fight, so it's not a spur of the moment reaction.

They didn't spend it all on Zack Greinke, guys, but the Dodgers are clearly going for it. MLB Network's Tom Verducci, also a Sports Illustrated MLB scribe and occasional "MLB on FOX" analyst, believes it's truly World Series or bust for this Dodger team. This even before what happened between Greinke and the Padres' Carlos Quentin.

Guys like Carlos Quentin also need to stop hanging over the plate. There are so many guys in Bud Selig's Major League Baseball that are asking for trouble unless they stop hanging over the inside corner!

100% agree. If the catcher CHOOSES to block the plate, he faces the consequences. This situation is completely different than charging the mound.

In my 25 or so years of watching baseball I havent seen many instances where that happens. Ive been far more entertained by the brawls and near brawls than any lost entertainment in players getting hurt.

I dont care what they make as a fan.

But part of this is just I like baseball the way it is etc.

Hahaha yeah as if the MLBPA is going to rubber-stamp a fifty-game suspension for running up to a guy and saying "WANNA FIGHT WANNA FIGHT" but not fighting. The MLBPA had to be dragged kicking and screaming into fifty-game suspensions for abusing federally illegal drugs! Or is this, too, a union that MUST. BE. BROKEN?

I mean, I have no use for charging the mound, it has no place in the game, it should be an automatic one-game suspension as a baseline with additional games for how stupid you got thereafter, but 50 games is just silly.

Unlike other sports, when a player is suspended in MLB, he appeals via the MLB Players Association. Once a player is suspended, forget the damn appeal! Man up and take the suspension without pay!

I also find it very curious these two teams rematch Monday night at Dodger Stadium. Hmmm...
