We're back to RB being a "replacement level position." God dammit. I was just starting to think how important RBs are, because of the WSJ.

His title is GM.

Why are people surprised about this?

There's always a layer between GM and Owner.

That is my attitude. Ted is his fucking boss so what. A lot of overreaction here today. Also a lot of mistaken takes on his nervousness at his first ever presser. He wasn't a boob.

Exactly. Nervous, absolutely. He didn't say synergy or growing men or toolbox. Off to a good start.

He did say toolbox. He said 'buy in is important'. He said process. He said he had to develop a personal relationship with Jay Cutler before deciding whether to cut/trade him this year or just cut him next year.

You didn't listen.

What??? Did Bloomberg Businessweek have an article stating that?

Good thing they didn't hired the guy whose team drafted Reggie Bush #2 overall and traded a 2nd and 1st to move back into the 1st to draft Mark Ingram.

I was being less than literal with not allowing the word process.

I missed toolbox I'll have to relisten.

The GM wanting to have a relationship with the QB is offensive now? Gee, I wonder if it's possible Brees and Mickey Loomis have a close relationship?

Don't judge this guy through the lens of past Bears mistakes. Let him fuck this up himself.

Mickey Loomis actively pursued and got Drew Brees. They wanted him. Then he won a Super Bowl and was a top 5 QB in the league for 5 or so years.

Pace walked into a job where deadweight career-killer Cutler who has never won anything is already on the roster and getting paid a shitton of money. He doesn't owe Cutler shit, and all he needs to know about Jay is the bodies he's left in his wake.

If it truly bothers you that he mentioned wanting to get to know Jay Cutler, we are clearly finding no middle ground here.

It's his first press conference. People on this board are overreacting like lunatics. He's been GM for less than 24 hours. Take a deep breath.

There's no winning or losing a press conference. It doens't matter.

He only said that because Mannely was shining too much with his Mickey Loomis get.

Berns is just making shit up as if he spends time at Halas Hall. Pace has complete control & Teddy is not involved.

Dan's source is....Ted Phillips. He's become the biggest Phillips apologist in the city, makes too much sense.

1. Make up source
2. Use made up source to entrench opinion counter to meatball strawman
3. Yell at everyone who isn't gullible enough to believe the latest truckload of shit unloaded on Chicago from Halas Hall, relying on made up source to back up opinion as fact.

Also, did anyone else find it odd that Dan was telling us who NFL players want in the weight room when Mannelly was next to him?

So Jay Glazer is on today the SAME Jay Glazer that both Terry & Dan referred to as a "complete PUDWHACK" for how he handled the Incognito interview?!?!

What's the alternative? You aren't going to stop watching and rooting. Pace said he was in charge. Let's say we give it more than a day to judge otherwise? Cool.

I used to like Terry when he had original thoughts & didnt just repeat everything that Dan says. This show really would be great if Terry actually said what he believed.

you can believe that Dan and Terry don't have sources, but I don't think that's true. You can more likely believe that their sources are feeding them info they want out there, and I think that's probably more true.

Ted Phillips said Ryan Pace can structure the department, build a staff as he desires. "He has total control over the football operations."

Not really sure what in the blue hell more they can give to this guy as far as autonomy goes short of full ownership of the team itself.

And it's a baseball guy.

Love two hear two guys who loved the Emery pick now bashing him. Teary with a "Why would you like Phil Emery?" You tell me, Terry. You sure did.

How in the hell can they hate the previous pressers, but like the Pace presser? It was the same bad dog & pony show.

yes, he has Van Dyke. I assume that's who you're referring to. But I think the Bears have figured out (like the Cubs) that they can get their press out there by providing "guys" with usable info.

Yeah, well, Pace said during the press conference that the McPhillips Albatross will be involved in the interview process for the head coach, and that he will heavily rely upon their "advice" in evaluating candidates. Does that sound like an autonomous football operation to you?
