You're right. Now he sounds like his same old self. Maybe Dan forgot to stick his hand up his back when the show started. Now all is well.

Some dope from Cleveland just happens to call in so they can do the B&B bit?

This thread is as good as anywhere I guess... There is a lot of dismissing of Cleveland being broadcast today. Hosts, guests as well as websites. I am amazed the Indians were ever able to make it to the series. They probably shouldn't show up and play.

I would think there may be less optimism if Chicago were facing Boston or Toronto...and Cleveland quickly dispatched both. Something has to give.

because the average goof doesn't know that the Indians were 4th in runs scored this year

I predicted an Indian World Series in July.

Dan says that all of the Cubs BS is now DEAD.

No Dan, they have to actually win the World Series for it to be dead. If they don't, 1908 and curses will still be mentioned. They haven't won anything yet.

The Boston Red Sox would make it to the World Series every 10 years or so. But they always lost and thus their "Curse stuff was still mentioned".

Nobody ever thought Kris Bryant won this one for my dead grandmother.

This is just stupid.

This was the quote that got me. I know he wants to believe that because that is basically the entire point of that mess.

But, it's not true. They do inherit "some shared history". The same way Presidents that live in the White House inherit some shared history or radio hosts that take over a drivetime slot at a sports station inherit some shared history.

It may not mean much to the players on the field or it may mean a great deal. But, like it or not, Anthony Rizzo shares some history with Ernie Banks and Mark Grace and Larry Biittner because they played the same position in the same uniform on the same field.

I think it's 1000 words of garbage for Dan Bernstein to say that no Cub players care about the past or the fans. Some probably don't give a shit. Some may think it is very cool. He doesn't know. He just wants to believe it.

Exactly. And it most certainly does belong to the fans. Because if the fans didn't care Theo Epstein might be teaching a high school American history class in Brookline and Javy Baez would likely be working a drive-thru window in Jacksonville.

This does go both ways. I don't care about any of these players' lives or families just like they don't care about mine. But I still want them to win, and they still want to be loved and remembered for what they're doing. This isn't just a baseball team operating in a vacuum. That's the Rays.

Why they have to go here is amazing. I know it's trolling. But they always want to turn nice Chicago sports moments into a "Fuck You" to the fans.

I was pretty committed to listening to The Score all day but now I'm thinking I'm not going to be able to make it.

This is why I quit listening. I didn't make some grand decision to stop listening. I just realized a few months back that "I haven't listened in 2 weeks" and had no desire to start again...until now.

Dan's argument, "Well they're still dead."

I never bothered to win a Little League game for my dead grandmother.

Why would I think Javy Baez is pointing to NaNa Noise up in the heavens?

It is all part of Dan's larger movement to have dead people turned into soylent green to feed cancer kids at camp.

Dan saying "I don't want to be pedantic about it" might be the funniest thing ever said on the Score.

This interview is too much. I bet they laugh at Dan behind closed doors. Even Crane Kenney is laughing in his Cubs uniform.

Dan stating he doesn't want to be pedantic in regards to the Cubs making the world series is the essence.

Dan really does think the transparent plan was more important than what happened on the field.

Dan is mad that people are calling it unbelievable that the Cubs won the pennant. "It's totally believable!" You can imagine Dan would have been up Jack Buck's ass like a DEA agent if Kirk Gibson were Jewish. "How can you not believe it IF. YOU. SAW IT?"

That really is all Dan has. It is really valuable to have the NY Times crossword level vocabulary and a few Duke debate classes.
