yes, even better! that would probably just be a "winning combination" and "smart moves" by everyone.

Social consensus? Do you really think meatball callers to radio shows and athletes trying to protect their own legacies represent "social consensus"? A top player decided where and with whom he wanted to play. It wasn't Jackie Robinson breaking the color line. He's probably going to win championships on a team with other good players just like Magic, Bird, and Jordan did. Stop trying to make it out like winning with Wade and Bosh is somehow easier than winning with Pippen and Rodman or McHale and DJ or Kareem and Worthy. Because it isn't. And it counts just as much. Full stop.

If I wanted to listen to someone lecture me about the importance of championships and the unimportance of everything else, I'd dig up some old pre-Decision podcasts and get it straight from the horse's mouth.

I'm certainly not lecturing anyone that "championships are the only thing that matter". I don't view sports that way. Sports are entertainment.

JORR the difference between LeBron and those guys is they didn't run away from THEIR team to play Robin. LeBron ran from HIS team that had won 60 games 2 years in a row. Those players wanted a challenge. There is a special feeling you have when you win after a struggle. LeBron won't have that. Their really is no comparison between LeBron and the greats. While IMO LeBron is more talented than any player in NBA history he won't even be a top 5 player when his career is over. Those players had that "it" that LeBron and many of the players today lack. I've been saying this for at least 3 years now so unlike Bernstein you can't tell me I'm making these statements because he isn't a Bull.

I love the Lebron "Most Talented" BS. This guy needs to play both ends of the court and not just in the 4th quarter. That is one big seperation between him & Jordan. Also the stats at equal points in their careers still favor Jordan. So I too think Lebron is an unstoppable force. He may be a great offensive star but not a complete star yet.

My point is that the Cavs weren't LeBron's team. They're Gilbert's team and he has made that pretty clear to everyone. I don't believe LeBron is ducking a challenge. In fact, I find the whole concept absurd. Every player wants his team to get better. You often hear guys begging GMs for help. It's easy to strut around in glory when you have other players in the top 50 of all-time on your team. bernstein was eager to see Bosh, Wade, and LeBron on the Bulls. Cavaliers fans would have liked to see them all there. I don't think the uniform they have on when they win has anything to do with the accomplishment. And Wade and Bosh aren't a better "supporting cast" than Rodman/Grant and Pippen or Kareem and Worthy or McHale and DJ.

As far as your view of LeBron's greatness is concerned, I don't necessarily disagree. But I will say that yours was a lonely opinion just a few weeks ago. And though you certainly may be correct, I don't think it's fair to judge him after seven years. Few people here probably remember that after his first seven seasons Jordan was widely viewed as a selfish player who would never win anything.

MJ won in his 7th season after battling the Pistons for 3 seasons. His problem was similar to Kobe's in that he wanted to win more than his teammates. Eventually he adjusted his game and pushed the guys around him to get in line. They feared what he would do if they didn't. The Cavs never feared LeBron.

Weird. It's almost like people's opinions have been influenced by some major event that happened recently.

Do you really believe that? Frankly, that's no different than saying Eckstein wanted it more. I'm not dismissing it either. I don't think anyone with his skill level wanted to win more than Jordan. Usually guys that good get in a habit of coasting against inferior opponents when they're young. I'd guess Jordan developing late really helped him.

I guess what I'm saying is that Jordan and Magic and Bird ended up on multiple champions due to their good fortune in having shrewd GMs and a little luck as well. Are we saying a guy can only be a "true champion" on the team that drafted him? Thank God Magic wasn't selected by the Kansas City Kings! LeBron simply became his own GM. I'd call that leadership in itself.

And then there's poor Charles Barkley who is destined to go through life with guys like me calling him a "loser". I know that isn't really fair. If he had been the guy who wound up with Pippen and Grant, he'd likely have won a title or two. But maybe not. And that's the thing. We just don't know. It is what it is.

A "major event" that has absolutely nothing to do with anything that has actually happened on a basketball court.

LeBron had been the unofficial GM/Coach in Cleveland for most of his time there. LeBron went looking for an equivalent of his mother's breast to suck on so he could feel protected. Unfortunately for him he caused himself many more problems (so far) than he would have had if he would have stayed in Cleveland or gone to any other team that didn't have a player that was at worse his equal.

Well, I guess we'll have to see how it plays out. If the Heat win three or four in a row, I'm guessing it will all be viewed differently. I suspect you don't think that's gonna happen. Neither do I. But we'll find out.

What? Why has he withdrawn? Because he put together his own team to make his title runs rather than waiting for some GM to do it for him? He hasn't withdrawn from anything. The perception that he has declined to lead is no different than the perception that Eckstein's effort helps his team. It's just a perception. It has no basis in reality. Or maybe it does. But since we can't measure it, why discuss it? That's bernstein's philosophy. Or at least it was until LeBron didn't choose the Bulls.

Eckstein's effort is a false perception based on groundless stereotypes, wishful thinking, and willful ignorance. Disappointment in LeBron is a personal opinion based on the entirely real and tangible events surrounding his departure from Cleveland.

That said, belabored or not, the hits just keep on coming. Bernstein's take on the Wojo piece Friday afternoon was nothing short of embarrassing. Apparently Rose's refusal to reach out to LeBron makes Bernstein "want to grab Derrick Rose and hug him," proves that "Derrick's got a lot more 'it' than LeBron does," and evinces Rose's motivation to be the best player on an NBA champion. The material is there to build an epic WYC, but frankly the incoherent hypocrisy in that segment was so profound that merely pointing it out almost seems mean-spirited.
Berstein played the "I don't want Lebron" card!

From there each day it has gotten worse to where danny now believes that the EXACT SAME PLAYER he truly believed was better than Michael Jordan a scant two weeks ago is now not even worth having on an NBA team. And this without him even playing a single game or doing anything other than exercising his right to free agency. It's absurd. He should really call Rongey with these thoughts.

What is crazy is that it was like an overnight change.

I don't know if it happened as soon as Derrick Rose got injured and the Bulls weren't a serious threat any more but one day he woke up and decided that everyone was an idiot who didn't love Lebron.

Game 2 of the conference final. After the Bulls won the first game it was a whole celebration of how the whole is greater than the sum of its parts and the Bulls had Done It The Right Way and on and on. Which everyone pretty much agreed with at the time, including myself. That was an exciting game! I watched it at the bar in Union Station with a bunch of strangers because I missed my train and had to wait another 90 minutes. Great time. Anyway, then they lost the second game and it was "okay never mind LeBron is the best ever" and it only got worse from there, both for the Bulls and for us.

No, this is only the second time in about a three week span. RFDC corrected me on something a few weeks ago and I gave him props also. I don't have a problem admitting it if I'm wrong about something.
