Once again, WSCR listener since Day_1. I listen out of habit. As for B&B, I listen as long as I can stand it. Some days it's longer than others. I still think they are the two funniest guys I ever listened to.

There's a lot of "they suck" talk that happens here. If they suck, why do you listen? That's what I don't get. It says more about the listener than it does them. Mully and Hanley blow, haven't heard anything from them in months. Don't plan on ever listening again. Did the same to North. Suck is suck. Bad is bad. Why waste your time?

Not taking about people who just "disagree with what they say" or anything like that. I guess I can sort of get that.

But if someone finds it so predictable and their opinions consistantly bad or offensive, why bother?

Some people like getting riled up. Its that simple. Live and let bitch....thats what I say

Im really getting to the point where I dont understand the other side. I dont know how you could live on this planet and not understand that some people like arguing and seek out opposing opinions in media. Its really pretty standard stuff. It seems like people just dont like "their guys" being made fun of.

I mean I find it really hard to believe that you guys are truly puzzled by haters listening. Its really common in media of any kind, but especially talk radio.

Also, the fact that a big part of BnB's schtick is to make fun of really dumb people, lends itself to people pouncing on things they are wrong about.

TB is by far...the most genuinely funny guy on radio. That is what pisses me off so much, his laziness, it's like we lost a great entertainer. Now he is bitter, only marginally funny, and really just a tired act. I was addicted to HFC. Terry is the biggest waste of talent on the radio. I can't stress enough how good he was and can be. That's why it hurts so much to see him defer to Bernsie and become a shadow of his former self.

There was a time that just hearing Terry laugh would make me laugh. Some guys have to say outrageous stuff, curse, or be really over the top to be funny. But in his heyday, Terry weaved in great humor in a simple and fun way. Sometimes, you wouldn't even get it because of his creativity. Sigh...I get sad thinking about it.

I feel like you're pretending NOT to understand.

or maybe Understanding is the wrong word.

I mean, this kind of thing exists. It just does, people like different things.

Some people like to be tied up and ball gagged during sex. I cant say I totally understand why they enjoy that, but I understand that they do and it doesn't really bother me.

No. Not pretending. Don't understand why someone would knowingly make themselves upset. I like being happy. I avoid the opposite at all costs. So no, I don't get it. No games, just strange to me. So far "It is what it is" seems to be the only explanation. That's fine. Still confusing...

I listen precisely because they make me angry. I'm entertained by that. But the CTE and Sandusky stuff sucks and I so I haven't been listening lately.

I understand that Denis. But my issue is that without actually listening to the podcast yourself and instead relying on these guys to do PBP, you often get half-truths and inaccurate descriptions of what is being said.

I'm not saying a lot of the hardcore B&B critics don't make good points sometimes. But I am saying that they fabricate shit a lot of the time. My point:

It's always best to listen for yourself and then make a determination.

Listened for many years and had enough. People making stuff up, i.e. Beardown, I don't pay much mind.

I have zero interest in concussion discussions, Sandusky, most non-Chicago teams, constant second guessing, always negative talk, etc. I watch a lot of sports and do so for enjoyment. I found sports talk radio was not providing a lot of enjoyment. But that is why I like Mac as I felt is he balanced in his love hate. MJH, and HFC were both very upbeat shows.....

I agree. I haven't consistently enjoyed B&B in about a year.

I stopped listening last October, but the Bears stuff was the primary reason.

What you wrote about MJH and HFC being upbeat shows is true Denis. One of the reasons I loved B&B for years is because the humor is so much more dark than the other shows. But even with the dark humor, in its heyday the show was still fun. Now B&B is just mostly just dark, with diced bits of humor/fun sprinkled here and there.

That's why I did the B&B YouTube channel. I was trying to spotlight the things that made B&B so much fun for me over the years. The reason I haven't posted much audio lately is because they just haven't given me much to work with. Everything is so damn serious on that show now.

In the past year alone, Bernstein has turned from a witty, annoying jerk into some idiot that proselytizes to people about ethics and what are proper sports thoughts (sabremetrics based baseball talk, Sandusky news, concussion awareness, etc)

This has become central to his radio mission.

What's that? Avoiding feelings of annoyance or anger? You really mean that or are you trying to make a point?

I don't like what Bernsie is now. What I can't recall is what I used to think of him. I know he didn't annoy me much. He just has that too cool for the room attitude. I think most sports people like to keep it light and enjoy a healthy back and forth banter. There isn't a lot of right/wrong with sports but rather a range of opinions that are just that, opinions.

Nah, I think it started earlier than that. Bernstein became a miserable bastard sometime in late 2009.

Bernstein brings out the worst in all of us. It has been amazing to read the show threads over the past two weeks. There is nothing but anger, disgust, hatred, and many other negative emotions mainly generated by Bernstein. Even Mac is feeling the sting. I can't tell if this is a CSFMB revolt against B&B, but it sure seems like the sentiment has shifted. In the past, I felt like it was 50/50 if you liked this show. Now most listen reluctantly or not at all. Lots of PTFB.

I've been a Bernstein fan since day one of my Score listening. I still am. However, the flipside of learning so much about how to think critically about sports fandom and coverage is that now I end up turning that increased scrutiny on Dan himself. Student vs. teacher, yo.

I wouldn't call what I feel "anger, disgust, or hatred." I'm just finding it quite sporting not to be an unwavering ALSer.

I still find the show funny. Some of the subject matter has been more serious lately, but there is still plenty of funny things that take place daily.

I don't know. Maybe sometimes people outgrow things. I was late to the B&B party. Maybe I'll start to sour on it in a few years...

I understand and agree with that.

Contrary to the shots and active memes that are thrown about on this board, there actually aren't are any unwavering ALSers here. Some are bigger fans than others probably, but all of us are able to criticize the show and its members.

Guys I'd put in the "unwavering ALS" category are guys like TFM, Whitley, Schmutzie, etc.

CH, your opinions are highly valued by me (especially your hockey thoughts).

That's a pretty fair assessment. From my end, I don't like the over analysis. It ends up getting too serious and takes away the fun. Maybe baseball can be explained and strategized with computer models. Fine. It still comes down to one guy trying to throw a pitch past another guy, and I love watching great pitchers against great hitters.

It probably began during Cutler's debut season with the Bears where plenty of stupid people assumed Cutler was a finished product after 2 seasons of play. The fan reaction to his bad INT performances was annoying.

Yeah, because he has clearly proven he's beyond criticism since then.

Cutler's a good starting point because I recall the excitement on the show. It was one of those cases where they were really positive about the price the Bears paid, much like the Dunn signing. It turned quickly, didn't (like the Dunn signing).

See, I like the sabermetric stuff. I like the Sandusky talk, too (even though I've taken gentle jabs at Dan's apparent e-crush on Sara Ganim), since it is a big deal and pretty fascinating stuff. I just get rankled with the flippant dismissal of hockey and some of the howling about "unfair media coverage" with the local teams.
