Athletic program on probation for 5 years
NCAA reserves right to impose sanction on individuals also pending future/ongoing investigations

Death Penalty sounds preferable to this. Wow.

The good news out of all of this is that Penn St. won't get their ass kicked by an SEC team on New Years day for at least 4 more years.

I don't understand vacating Paterno's wins. Sure it feels good to be pissing over all of his legacy, but in real terms, it's hard to argue that any of this helped PSU win games.

Only if you care about imaginary punishments like taking their wins away. Ooooh.

I think if the rape would have been exposed years ago, the football team probably would have suffered.

If they reported it immediately, Paterno would not have been coaching until 2011. It's pretty much a lock that a "retirement plan" would have started as soon as it was public knowledge that his long time assistant was doing this.

Im sure they would have lost some games due to sanctions if Joe would have reported him right away in 98

Got it. Makes sense. Obvious thought. I'm just going to sit the rest of this day out.

Don't be mad because you were wrong.

This is worse than the death penalty without a doubt both in terms of destroying Paterno's legacy and making it very difficult for Penn State to recover.

The rest of them are, but they chickened out of a year-long suspension, and decreeing that all their games since the rape have un-happened doesn't impress me. Why not wave a wand and say the rapes hereby never happened, either.

That is actually the best punishment here. Curious Hair should love that one. It literally destroys the legacy of Joe Paterno. 100 years from now, that will be the one that still lasts and Joe Paterno's legacy now has an asterik on it that basically says "protected a child molester".

So you are just mad that you were wrong about a year long suspension. Cool.

They also declared that in 2004 Appalachian State shut them out 41-0 at Happy Valley.
