You are proof that intelligent & rational liberals do exist. Well said.

You believe there is more intelligence on the conservative side?

I couldn't disagree more. You would have had to be deaf or blind not to hear or see many of the racist comments. I was with you for some of the things you said earlier on this page but as I continued to read you really lost me and I ended up getting the feeling that you were pulling a "Bernstein".

This same incident happened three years ago, the only difference is whichever guy interviewed Bart Scott was able to defuse the situation while Erin Andrews, who even among sideline reporter girls is considered more than a little slow on the uptake, looked totally spooked.

I agree with that. Erin's reaction got the true racist reaction on twitter. I didn't read any of it. But I heard about it. Sal Pal interviewed Scott. He played along and by the end of the interview everybody was laughing.

The pretty little white girl being scared of the black man did bring out the true racists. Shame on Erin Andrews for not playing along. You're right. She's not that bright to realize she had a cool, fun moment in front of her.

The Scott thing wasn't that bad. Check it out on YouTube. He was actually smiling and mimic flying a plane right before the interview.

I think what's missing from this Sherman thing is the fact that what he said was rather innocuous. Sorry WR, I'm the best, I'm going to best you in competition, etc. There were no expletives, no threats of violence, basically nothing you'd typically associate with bad behavior. It was more of an etiquette thing in that context, yet people in the media are treating it like some watershed moment in race relations. All the dude said was he was better than Crabtree. It was fairly boring from that perspective, though his emotions made it what it's become. Of course the reaction from Twitter racists is deplorable, but other than that I'm not so sure why this is a big deal.

IDK maybe she looked spooked but she claimed he hugged her before camera was on and hit her in mouth accidentally with shoulder pads. Either way all she asked was who was talking or whatever? WTF did she do wrong? He did nothing wrong either.

That's the thing. I watched it live and really thought it was a nothing. Gave me a smile and I didn't think anything else of it. I was shocked to later learn the reaction and how it became a BIG thing on twitter, ESPN and the NFL Network.

It's true he hugged her. Go to deadspin for the video. He was actually interviewed right before the one we saw. That's on film, and yes he does yell about Crabtree in that one too.

Its not wrong, but if you're interviewing a football player minutes after the game, you probably shouldnt be so shocked by his adrenaline.

SalPal wasnt, becuase he's a fuckin pro

I think you make a good point here but also keep in mind this wasn't a standard post-game interview. That's why we are still talking about it.

I mean, she's used to people saying "The other team is a great team and we are just happy we could win" and instead got a "THAT GUY SUCKS" interview.

I completely disagree with Sherman on that. The term thug was used a lot to describe members of the mafia. To suggest that it is synonymous with the "N" word is factually incorrect. Rap music has changed some of the connotation with the word but to say that it is another way of stating "N" is incorrect

There are absolutely people who use thug instead of the n word. Not ALL, but it does exist.

Fuck, they come up with new code words all the times. Mondays?

In what context are they using the word? Are they using the word because the person is a thug or are they using it because the person is black? If they are saying all black men are thugs then that is a problem.

Maybe. Ive only heard it from white people in that way. Most black people I know have no issue saying the N word casually.

Wasn't there a white guy defending his use of the N word on this board recently?

There is a segment of black men that embrace that term. Doesn't make it right but it is hard to cry foul when it goes another way. 2Pac's entire persona and a large part of his popularity (particularly among blacks) was centered on him being a thug. I didn't not hear a lot of complaining about his persona and the image that he cultivated when he was parading around with Thug plastered on hat t shirts and the like. To cap it off he even wore bandannas. After he started wearing bandannas a large segment of African Americans started wearing them as a means of not only emulating him but perpetuating a thug image

I dont recall anything specific like that recently. I know some guys here think its childish to type "the N Word" instead of just typing it.

I just never use it. Avoids confusion

This is what I pointing to RPB. For example, the Trick Daddy song and music video. It doesn't excuse white people using thug as a code (which I agree some definitely do) but "thug" has been embraced by a segment.

Oh, ok, Kirkwood. Yes, thug is seen as positive by some in regards to 2pac and other hip hop acts. That is true.
