Anybody else catch @Maddonini invoking "Blink" by Gladwell? I'm not buying in until we get an "Infinite Jest" reference.

Why "Maddonini"? (I know it's his real name...is Bernstein just trying to show off?)

I think that's his actual Twitter handle.

Yes.

If WSCR continues down this path of being a cheerleader for its new business partner, we will be ending our relationship.

He can;t really mean that, right? I mean, he had to have mis-spoken when he said that.

That was always a fiction created by Cub fans unable to concede a minute of airtime to anyone but discussion of themselves. North was one of the principal exhibits of WSOX and he was a Cub season ticket holder.

I don't mind Cub's talk but if there is going to be a station wide policy of zero objectivity, I have no stomach for it.

Anyway, you always had WGN. WGN and The Game have still not seemed to extricate themselves from Cub influence which leaves me 1000.

You will get high fives all across the MSFMB for that.

It balances nicely with the CSFMB's Sox fan policy of zero objectivity regarding the Cubs.

So he won the presser? Universally agreed? Bernstein said so?

Can I just point out that Bill Belicheck is 0-578 in press conferences. But I'll take him over all the guys that win them.

Tank-press-conference wins.

Dan's weird stance on pets is nothing new, but it always reminds me of a certain type of family growing up, the type my family wasn't.

I have to admit,I'm impressed with Maddon even though he dresses like me and looks like he was on an all-nighter.

I've never really heard him claim them, but I think he became a fan of them when he went to Boston the same way he became a Cub fan when he came to Chicago. He's obviously a Cub fan now.

Pretty sure he is a Red Sox fan from living there a while and/or his dad. He is a general baseball fan and roots for the Cubs and loves the story and scene but not like a die hard way.

more a plan question than maddon.... but the cubs have stated they plan to spend on free agent pitching this winter... isn't it a dumb way to build a pitching staff by giving 29-30+ year old pitchers 5-6 year deals that may be worth upwards of high 8 or low 9 figure total value?

I don't think they specified what type of pitching. They could be looking at off the rack types not 150M deal guys.

Did you hear Danny and Larry speculating about in which Chicago neighborhood Maddon will live? They sounded like a couple of giddy school girls speculating on which cheerleader the star quarterback will ask to prom. This is the same Danny who blasts reporters in Alabama for nervously laughing at lame Nick Saban jokes.

Yeah, ugh. He's not a Gold Coast guy. I could see him as a Logan Square hipster! Maybe he could be in Wicker Park! omg, do you think he'll go to the same synagogue as Rahm and Theo? Wait, scratch that last one.

2 hours on the job and he is already un-PC. He referred to himself as a "Pollock" on Kap's Comcast show.
