No clue why they wanted him to host a regular show. He isn't awful, not even bad, just extremely average. I don't walk away thinking (or his partner) are overly intelligent despite the commercials. They usually read articles written by somebody else and then provide their spin on it. Spiegal (or whomever at the station) would have been fine with Bernstein.

Spiegel would have challenged Bernstein and there would have been real tension that sometimes makes for good radio.

At times he might of, but he would have also been a pouty baby too.

As bad as Mcknight is, I am glad it is not meatpants

I'm just not sure why McKnight was targeted when they already had a few in-house options. It seems like they were looking for bland, non-interesting to pear with Bernstein to tone down the SJW crap, unless they really believed this partnership would create a "smart" show.

As stated by others here before, Jimmy D has a particular soft spot for McKnight from his time at The Game. What is it in Connor that DeCastro sees as bigger and better talent than Matt Spiegel (irrespective of Spiegel's dislike for Bernstein), who the hell knows.

Lately, I've noticed Connor trying to emulate Bernstein's tone and inflection...

The only time he's entertaining is when he misspeaks. He had a great malaprop today when he was reading this story about some charlatan preacher soliciting donations for a fourth private jet. McDoink was quoting the preacher when he said, "God would want me to have this jet so that I could spread His word more effectively. If Jesus was physically on Earth today he wouldn't be riding a darkie... er, donkey..."

You could tell that Bernstein was cracking up and trying to not call attention to it.

I love that McKnight makes Arrested Development and It's Always Sunny references. The Charlie Day reference about yarn and Pepe Silvia in terms of Colangelo investigation was great.

A buddy of mine said that on today's show McKnight asked Bernstein the name of the James Bond movie in which a man has a gold gun. Did anyone hear that? Did he ask jokingly or was it a serious question?

Serious. Then there was discussion of the side kick and Fantasy Island. Then I pushed the button.

Jesus, I can't believe that was a serious question.

What was odder was he knew the villain’s name. The question didn’t linger long, I can’t remember if Dan deadpanned the title Or if McKnight’s brain finally clicked but he had a true brain dead moment.

These things wouldn't seem so ridiculous if they didn't portray Connor as The Man with the Titanic Intellect.

Give the guy a break. He's not 87 years old like the rest of you old farts that still listen to the radio.

Dan was reading a story about the soccer team trapped in a cave. They were apparently exploring the caves when heavy seasonal rains flooded the caves and trapped them.

Connor: So, presumably, the caves were not flooded when they went in them.
Dan: No.

If Connor ever interviews Antonio Alfonseca I'm confident he will ask him the same question Jesse Rogers did.

Remember the Dove for Men deodorant commercial with 3 or 4 different guys talking about underarm sweat and the effectiveness of their deodorant? They all sounded the same and said things like "My deodorant? Um, ah, well..." as if they were afraid to say anything at all. Connor sounds like all of them.

I guess people didn't realize that Terry was big shoes to fill especially considering he had real chemistry with Bernstein.

With that said, Waddle and Silvy always had the better show.

Anyone can be an update guy or producer and not be very interesting, but that's a little tougher to pull off as a cohost of a midday show. He is in a tough spot though -- years have been put towards this role, he's not going to walk away, but say in three years they decide to blow this thing up, you're now middle aged and all of your experience is in an industry that is completely dying and isn't hiring anyone... DeCastro is retired so he's not around to help... they've got five 25 year olds willing to work for half the price that he thinks he is worth. I don't know how hard it is to work some sort of moonlighting job to get experience in something else, but for the youngsters, I think I would consider it. Guys like Bernsie and Mac have enough in the bank and are old enough it isn't a big deal.

Dan reads a lengthy email about TheoAndJed's failure to develop pitchers and how it's put a great deal of strain on the organization. Connor: "yeah, but consider all the hitting they developed!" Me: [pained strangling noises]

EDIT: Dan just kinda jumped in and said the same thing, too, which carries some cognitive dissonance considering he just spent two minutes reading an email that says the opposite
