I love their "Tales from College" stuff and the social behavior lectures that go along with it.

I never got people drinking during the day, watching college football and then going out afterwards for the night. What is wrong with you people? I'd just get tired and go home and go to bed. Drinking during the day and going out at night is stupid. No one does that except for drug addicts, alcoholics and Patrick Kane. And no one passes out in a bar, right? I've never heard of that before Patrick Kane. Why can't you just have a beer and go home and go to bed. Is it that hard? I mean, it's college, not crazy party time.

They sounded like it was nuts that a rich 23 year old went out and got fucking wasted on a college campus, passed out in a bar (it happens!) and threw up. They sounded even more incredulous that it might happen to other people in college who aren't Patrick Kane. What the hell? Sounded like a bunch of no-fun losers.

C'mon now, oranj kleats. If you're going to mock my lame ass former handle, do so with accuracy.

that sounds vaguely familiar. that was you?

i think these thoughts are very spot on. i remember when i first tried giving the show a chance back in '04 i just couldn't take the fact that they would leave idiot callers on forever just to make themselves look better. then started listening more once mac left ESPN.

i don't get to hear it very often but i just get tired of bernstein trying to have it both ways (intellectual and meathead) and terry just being bored and dismissive of everything but thanking everyone for their call.

i still like hearing the clips that OKC has graciously uploaded to YT but the day-to-day show gets tired to listen to.

Considering I was around for like 3 weeks in 2005 and 3 minutes in 2008 people still remember that account well. I must've said some profoundly stupid shit.

I heard some of the Kaner taking to task shit. I knew plenty of people like that when I was 23. At 23, many people are still in college under the 5 year plan or are in their first year of grad school. I suppose you could make the argument that the Kaner is special since he is a high profile athlete with a large paycheck. But why are they so shocked by it? Ok, I can agree he acted like a douchebag.

Dazzler was pretty accurate in his assessment - he's an adult. He's acting like an idiot, but it's his life. It's not affecting his play on the ice and if anything his teammates should be the one giving him shit about it, not the press over a vague deadspin comment.

Last I checked it's still Hacksaw Jim Duggan. I have no earthly idea why.

If I'm a rich 23 year old living in a big city, why would I need to drink with college kids from wisconsin farms and the north shore? It reeks of the frat guy who graduates and continues to return to the frat.

Did Kane ever go to college or lead a normal life up to this point? Or was he all hockey all the time traveling here and there and everywhere...away from home and all that?

If he was the latter then I can definitley see why he would be acting like this.

But see, that's really who he should be drinking with. I always thought it was weird that 25 year old Michael Jordan hung around with a bunch of 45 year old Jewish guys.

Seems like Bernstein thinks athletes should be doing the latter. I WONDER WHY

The old adage about being able to disagree but not be disagreeable does not apply to them. I have found myself listening less and less over the years because of the fact that they are completely dismissive of those that disagree with them. Lebron James is a perfect example of this. He has holes in his game that go beyond an inability to step up in key situations. Dallas exposed it last year. The ease with which they dismiss callers on the subject among other things is mind blowing. I also have a problem with the continous use of the term "bad" to describe players that may not be bad. Once Bernstein applies that term to someone he expects the world to take it as gospel. Any deviation from his pronouncement and you're considered a moron or name your sport retarded. The excuse making used to describe the failures of James the player are priceless. The senseless cheerleading that they provide undermines the product.

I think he left home at 14 to play serious club hockey in the Detroit burbs, then went play major junior in London (Ont.) at like 17, thenu can went to the Blackhawks at 18. I'm sure the opportunity to drink and be stupid was never out of reach on that track, but I can see where that would retard someone's maturation.

Again, though, he's 23! Stop being such an idiot in public and stop abusing your body already. I don't want to hear "he's a kid, he can blow off some steam after he kicks some ass on the ice" or whatever.
1) ONCE MORE, TWENTY-THREE
2) He just had his worst season

It pains me to see someone who I dare say could soon be a 100-point player turn into a silly punchline for some paid-by-the-pageview parasites over at Deadspin because he's squandering his talent and ruining his image.

Maybe less than that...Bernsy's only on until 2p today to accommodate White Sox/Angels & is scheduled to follow White Sox/Cubs tomorrow after Ranger's postgame tomorrow. If Sox/Cubs tomorrow doesn't take an eternity to complete at Wrigley, Bernsy's scheduled to be only 90 minutes according to the 670thescore.com schedule.

Dan's Liberal Conscience coming through over the Ricketts thing, odious and hypocritical as it is, rings somehow hollow from the same guy who thinks Occupiers should just take a shower and go get a job already.

Not to mention that basically every major pro-sports owner is a rapacious piece of shit, and most of them have the sort of politics that rankle people of Dan's ideological stripe. I don't see why the family that owns the Cubs deserves special derision, especially given that a guy who owns two other teams in this city oh wait nevermind now I get it.
