He's strange with ratings.

Earlier in the show he was saying "oh, he even said they would be higher than the Jordan teams!", he said it with such feigned amazement that it didn't take a lot to catch on to what he was doing which was using ratings as a brick to throw at the Fortress that is Castle Jordan.

Oklahoma City is either the smallest American metropolitan area with a sports team or the second-smallest. They may have inched past New Orleans. Guess it's a good thing that interest in them is not limited to Oklahoma City!

According to what I've read, Oklahoma City is #37, while Miami is actually #16, if anyone's wondering about media market size.

And now, back to a certain creep named Jerry Sandusky and Victim #4...

South Florida is tricky because the tri-county area is one metropolitan area, but West Palm Beach has its own network affiliates separate from Miami, probably because over-the-air signals didn't make it all the way up the coast.

These gym class stories are great.

lol at Jason's school having a "tardy center." Stuff like that is why high school is a ridiculous kabuki of non-education. You were a minute late to class? Fine! Now you don't get to learn anything! This door is locked. Go somewhere else.

Sandusky Trial coverage now continues. Yahoo! Sports scribe Dan Wetzel on the Home Run Inn Pizza Hotline now from outside the courthouse.

Ugh. I turn it back on, give it a shot and....PTFB again.

Terry following up on Bernstine with a speech about falling off a mountain at basecamp. Nice.

Their media flagships are in Milwaukee, so they only half-count.

I turned on B&B today & turned if off about one minute later. No one is glued to the radio listening to the Sandusky trial play by play & Dans analyses. Bad radio. Real bad. It would be nice if Mitch required these clowns to have pre show production meetings to plan their show.

 So they can better plan how to talk about the Sandusky trial? I get you don't like the coverage, but a pre-meet ain't gonna change nothing if this is what they want to talk about.

I love how incredulous Dan and Terry act when people express their dislike of LeBron. Why is it so hard for them to believe that people don't like him? And in fact, I think most people just dislike the Heat in general and a by-product of that is not liking the individual players either. This is not some major revelation about sports in that certain people don't like another team.

I always laugh when Dan takes it to ESPN. His "if you root against any great player*, you're a meatball" shtick is the boo-yahs stock-in-trade.

*Except Brett Favre, haha, look, Favre is injured, haha, what a loser.

No matter what you do for a living, if you don't plan & prepare, you will always revert to your comfort zone, which for Dan & Terry is the same 3 or 4 topics, all of which are no longer entertaining. The point is, a good program director DIRECTS his staff. Mitch should tell B&B that enough is enough. Put some time into show prep & enough of the Sandusky talk.

Ya know, Im pretty sure Terry was talking about Duncan being the player he would add to his all time starting 5, before Berns jumped in with "It HAS to be LeBron" (This was a week or two ago)

Boers went on to say LeBron would be his power forward.

He was talking about Duncan. Thats awesome.

"Professor" Holmes says my number one grammar pet peeve by ending sentences with "at." Hate, hate, hate it! He did it yesterday. "Where at?" Just fucking say "WHERE!" The "at" is redundant, you moron.

Pretty sure that if Mitch said that they would stop. Meeting or no meeting. I understand how show prep can help. Don't get me wrong. I don't think Mitch has any intention of telling them to stop. Dan has a cute little drop where he states "I do what Mitch Rosen tells me." Pretty sure they could find other topics to chat about if they were told to do so but they haven't been told to do so.

I find the Sandusky coverage great radio -flawed to be sure -but a must listen. However, it has become obvious that whenever a major story is discussed, Boers is a complete embarrassment. His inarticulate, bumbling attempts at making a point are unbearable. It's obvious he tests the patience of his partner and I don't understand how he has been allowed to linger all these years. His frequent self deprecating remarks i. e. "Well, I'm an idiot anyway..." pose the question: You are an idiot so why would anyone value your thoughts?

If they hadnt beaten every tiny piece of news or rumor of this story into the ground, people would be a lot more tolerant of the coverage when its warrented (like now, with the trial taking place)

The problem is every article written turned into a 2 hour reflection of the whole incident.

I dont think people want serious news like that in sports radio anyway

Nope.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Table_of_U ... ical_Areas

Salt Lake City, Buffalo, New Orleans, and Green Bay (and Appleton) are all smaller.
Jacksonville, Nashville, and Milwaukee have less than 200K more people.

I like how people assume these cities out west are small. They have been non stop growing for 30 years. Even people from CA are going there. Dallas, Denver, OKC even Omaha is growing.

You have to use primary census statistical areas, "metropolitan areas" are too partitioned (e.g., Raleigh and Durham are separate). Salt Lake City is well ahead of Oklahoma City, which I'll admit is bigger than I thought it was.
