Yeah, that was ultra-cringeworthy.

I caught part of LoHo's show and he was slurping Maddon even more than B&B were.

It is just so weird. I just told my mom's husband that I was excited for him if this is the key. But as a Sox fan I just seem to recall so much excitement and the this WILL PUT US OVER THE TOP that I have heard for years. Prior will be Seaver, Pinnella and Baker were the saviors. They will not admit but they all wanted and lauded Soriano. It is really a curse. I hope it ends but no guarantee.

Do you actually think Bryant will be better than Mike Trout? And Trout, Pujols et all got them squat.

As Score went to MNF I was listening to AM1000. Besides Fred and Jessie making me sick they replayed Theo interview. They get Theo and B&B get Jed? Not a lot of payoff for all that cock slurping.

Fred and Jessie together? Christ, both of their brains could find shelter in the shadow of a snow pea.

This is a very common misperception made by people wanting something to be true rather than listening to what was said. Theo has clearly stated they plan to spend on free agent pitching in the next 18 months.

Odds drop from 50-1 to 20-1 almost overnight. Surely someone is out there thinking optimistically .

Of course he won! For this Sox fan he won my heart buying a round for the house, and he won my mind by being little to nothing that Bernstein relates with. Dis guy, I'm gonna enjoy!

Vegas apparently.

I havent heard one Cub fan even suggest this move "puts them over the top"

Its just not true. Its lazy stereotyping that PittMike frequently falls back on when discussing the cubs

Weren't we just talking on this board last week how the current Cubs odds were somewhere around 22-1 or 23-1, which were lower than the Sox at 30-1?

How long is an "overnight" for good dolphin?

That is all mike does. Anytime there is a Cub thread around here he just parrots the same ole stuff. He should pretty much be ignored in any Cub thread kind of like Kirkwood should be ignored in any Bear thread. :P

I can't believe these fucks dedicated yet another entire show to baseball manager talk. Jesus christ. In all of the major sports, there isn't a single thing that is worth less than a baseball manager. It's like talking about a towel-boy for four fucking shows in a row. God fucking damn.

Upon further reflection and listening to the estrogen sounding partner of the late morning show I stand by my distaste for the manner in which he was acquired, and hope the karmic bitch continues to deny the Ricketts (Cubs) their desire to have it all, their pretty cake and eating it too.

This is a retarded trick that Bernstein has been using. If you don't think he'll put you over the top, there's no real reason for optimism. Of course you think he'll put you over the top. There's no point in talking about this at all if you don't think it matters regarding winning a WS (which is to say that there's no point in talking about this at all).

Is there anything else to talk about? The woeful Bears are getting ready to be embarrassed at Lambeau, but not until Sunday night so there's still loads of time for that, the Bulls are just starting, as are the Blackhawks, neither team looking particularly interesting at the onset but too early to say anything intelligent either way ... the other options are politics, concussions, and Pennsylvania child rape.

I mean, if there was something else to talk about, I'd agree, but I'm hard pressed to glean what else could carry the last few shows as a story ... unless you want them breaking down Hossa's 1,000 career goals I guess.

I get and more or less agree with your basic sentiment to be sure, but like free agent talk generally revolves around 'who else could they have signed', so too is this a matter of 'what else are they going to talk about'? The days of drop-heavy, grab-ass, Howard Stern-like random conversation radio carrying the day are, very sadly, long since over. As JORR correctly, albeit vaguely, alluded to somewhere else, it's basically Dan Bernstein's Cavalcade of Sports Gnosticism for the better part of five hours a day five days a week. Inexplicably, in a major market with hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of listeners nobody has been able to come up with and, in turn, effectively market something better as of yet - that's the thing to be most depressed about.

The Score has really shifted away from reporting and commenting on the news to creating the news. I think the wall to wall Bears coverage is a good example of this.

The Score would have me believe that I am a voice in the wilderness regarding liking college football and NFL football beyond the Bears. I know they have positioned themselves as hyper Chicago sports talk but there is room for so much more.

It was a great weekend of college football and, sadly, there is plenty of Chicago talent playing on national teams. Brady v. Manning had national interest.

The slow days (and I challenge that) are days that demand more production but it sounds like production is a thing of the past at the station. Content has been reduced to free form for the first hour while looking up things on the internet during commercials.

If it's down to baseball manager talk or child-rape talk, give me child-rape talk.

But it's not, anyways. There's plenty to talk about with the Bulls and Hawks.

Even in the heyday of Sports Talk Radio in Chicago they did not do much with college football. Chicago just has never seemed like a college football town.

It is and it isn't. Lots of people like it, but no one team has a significant plurality, so you can't focus on just Notre Dame or just Illinois and definitely not just Northwestern. Fortunately and unfortunately, the explosion in sports media means that all the warring tribes can get their college football content from blogs and podcasts and the Big Ten Network. The Score has pretty much cast its lot with all Bears, all the time because the research shows that's the one thing we can all agree on.

Am I the only one who would be interested to hear an SEC, Pac 12, Big 12, etc. perspective a little each week? The locals always seem to have kind of a fun and colorful take on things.

I loved when HFC did around the NFL. I have no reason to remember the name Patrick Royce but I do because it was an interesting listen even beyond the NFL.

There should be more coverage of college football, but it's beneath guys like Bernstein, and means some of the hosts may need to study up.

That is funny considering B&B having DiNardo on is one of the only shows that talk about college football

Seems weird to me that that guy hosts the Saturday morning college football show on The Game but still does weekly spots on The Score.

I'm not limiting my criticism to B and B.

Big Ten football is at its zenith right now since the creation of the conference
