Post subject:  Bizarro Day

I had a block of listening to this show yesterday. I really haven't had a chance to listen for an extended period in a while. The listening experience was a long set play of who you crappin wrapped in a commercial. A few highlights:

Terry: I hate owners and administration who insinuate they are running things so much better than everyone else and their vision is the reason the team is winning (paraphrase)

Dan: I'm not going to give credit to an organization that drafts an alien who then goes out and plays as he is supposed to

Dan: Some people are Curry guys others are LeBron guys. I am a Westbrook guy.

The great thing about that little gem is that the writer they were interviewing when he said that followed it up by calling that a basketball hipster opinion.

Dan: Kris Bryant LITERALLY has a possible home run swing on each at bat but for missing just a little bit.

I shit you not, he said not that there is potential for him to hit a home run every time he comes up but that EVERY (and he said every) at bat has at least one pitch that should have been a home run.

Len: I don't feel I have to oversell things...followed by "the Cubs are five deep at every position" and "Almora is a gold glover today".

Then we had your run of the mill bullshit about how cool Len is because he is a rocker. Sox fan Dan also revealed that he watches a ton of Cubs baseball while Terry refused to watch the Sox on weekends even when they were 13 above .500.

I have heard of a buffet of cock but I don't think I have ever heard such a sumptuous buffet of bullshit issued in one listening experience.

I listen to the intro of Mully and Hanley this morning. You just had a big rally with the Sox last night, and Mully starts talking about the Sox. 2min in, he says we are going to be talking a lot about the Cubs.......I just wanted to vomit.

I don't blame the Cubs focus. They are having a great season so I would expect that focus.

How many times can they interview Len Kasper? Do Cubs fans even enjoy it? It's just awful radio with those two trying to sound like the better informed statistician.

He jumps on whenever they want to talk about something Cubs. Then they talk about his running habits, music, dining etc. And he is always on the morning show as well. He says nothing interesting ever.

3 weeks ago... Dan couldnt wait for the Cavs v. Thunder/GS

After game 3 of finals, Dan: Cleveland's roster is terribly constructed.

Of all the things this show has covered, have they ever flipped their position on a player as often as they have on Kevin Love? I cant keep track of whether or not Kevin Love is good per B&B anymore because it changes week to week

He is on every show. Some days I have heard him on multiple shows the same day. The biased updates bother me more though.

Kasper is one of the dopes who says the Cubs "can play even better." Never mind the historic start (70%+ winning percentage), five starters with the best ERA since the mound was lowered, and career years (so far) from Zobrist, Fowler, Rondon, Wood, and Ross. Rizzo and Bryant are about level with expectations. So where are all of these areas of underperformance? (Other than Heyward.)

What useful analysis. Better have him on ten more times this week. He can talk about his favorite running shoes too.

The only real programming provided by The Score's highest-paid duo had to wait until the Second Half. The first 2.5 hours of the show were all guest-driven, boring and uninspired radio.

One is code for not recruiting poorer kids with problematic backgrounds just to be good at football.

The other is code for recuiring poorer kids with problematic backgrounds just to be good at football.

He's telling Northwestern to lower their standards of recruiting so they can start pulling from inner-city high schools, but chastising Baylor, in part, for doing the same thing.

Bernstein was not saying to let dumb kids in. He was saying let average to above average kids in.

Compare that to Baylor that will pretty much take anyone who will help them win and you see it is much different.

He first said "C", which is, at best, average. He then said specifically to let "dumb kids in".

But yeah, I'm sure he's just talking about the kids eeking out a B- in algebra at Simeon.

I am not sure why he always does this but he put the decent golf guest on the spot unnecessarily. They were talking Oakmont and the US Open and out of the blue for a last question Bernsie tries to get him to talk about Mickelson. Implying people are talking about his bad optics with gambling and his "associates". The guy politely told him he would not tell him shit.

Yeah, the guy clearly wasn't prepared to speak on such a topic, even swiping back at Bernsie with a passing reference to the kinds of stories he actually writes (tree removal at Oakmont or something). I think that's Bernstein trying to show that he can ask the tough questions, because the guy's stammering responses made it seem as though he knew something, but didn't want to violate the sanctity of some Old Boys Club of Golf and Golf Media. But really, all he was doing was putting the screws to a guy that Bernstein knows doesn't have the information he wants, but he (Bernstein) might as well polish his rep as a hard-nosed journalist on someone not willing to fight back.

look, there's plenty to go after Dan on...but before this series started he clearly said the Cavs didn't have a chance. He said he was looking forward to the series because it was the best from the east and the west but he clearly said the Cavs were a bad match up with golden state.

Every single one of those items occurred on Tuesday's show. I stand by my statements even though I was a little woozy from inhaling the smells inside an SRO on a 90 degree day.

Every day I'm forced with the decision of silence or garbage B&B on my drive home.
I hate the NBA, so if they're discussing basketball i go with silence.
They seem to have Len Kasper on often. I don't hate him...it's fine.
The most White Sox baseball they've discussed is Drake LaRoche and Hawk rushing down to tend to Todd Frazier. The sox got really bad really quick so there isn't much to talk about.
I don't need football talk in June, so that's fine. When Hub is on, I'll listen. He's a jagoff and I take his comments with a grain of salt, but it's ok radio.

My biggest problem is the fact that Boers doesn't watch sports...at all. His presence is so unnecessary and useless, it's beyond pathetic.

The show is awful, but there isn't a better option down the dial. Silvy? He's never been a good listen and is still horrible.
