Stone loves the wins and losses stat. Yet Bernstein never calls him a dumb ass. Why? And how can he be the SCORE expert if he loves that stat? |

Stone also talks about RBIs. He loves that stat as well. Stone is a meatball according to Bernstein. And I agree with Bernstein. W/L and RBI are stupid stats that don't mean anything. It's amazing that everybody says that Steve Stone is a great analyst. I just wish Bernstein would treat Stone like his dumb ass callers. |

Bernstein: We now welcome our MLB expert, Steve Stone. Steve, what is on your mind about baseball? Stone: Well, Dan, I was looking at the win/loss record of all of the pitchers in baseball. I came to the realization that Jose Quintana doesn't get his just due for how good he is because he doesn't get any run support. Thus doesn't get a lot of wins. Bernstein: WINS DON'T MATTER, DUMB ASS. EVERY SMART PERSON IN BASEBALL KNOWS HOW GOOD QUINTANA IS. EXCEPT FOR YOU, I GUESS. Because of the stupid win stat. Why are you baseball stupid, Steve Stone? Bernstein: What's Quintana's WAR, Steve? What's his Whip? What's his FIP Stone: I couldn't tell you. But I do know his won/loss record and it's not very good. Bernstein: Jesus Christ!!!! How can you be a former major leaguer and current MLB broadcaster and not know those stats? Don't you want to be smart when it comes to baseball? Why do you enjoy being a dumb ass? Stone: |

Yeah, Beardown, a big mouth on the radio understands the game better than the guy who has dedicated his life to it. |

I hate Steve Stone. Always have. For as much shit as Hawk gets, I think Stone is equally horrible. If not worse. He's smarmy. All he does during a broadcast is state the obvious. |

I feel that way about him too, but his opinions on baseball are still better than bernstein parroting some crap he read from superfan Joe Sheehan. |

i grew up with Stone on WGN and the Cubs. As a young kid learning the game, it was nice to have him in the booth. More often than not, it would lead to good discussions with my father during the game. Now that im older, i've noticed more and more that Stone really has a tendency to just talk shit about "why this or that guy is or isnt (blank)" and how "more players are likely to benefit nowadays because of (X)". Hes very sly about it and never comes right out and says what he means to. It was great when he would call out the Cubs ownership for fielding shit teams. Now, its just incessant and aimless. That whole broadcast team is salty. Stone, Hawk, Farmer will always have a gripe, DJ is a fucking parrot, so if youre mad, youre sure as shit going to get an "Absolutely" from him. Only a matter of time before Benetti starts tossing out one liners and non sequiters |

I love Steve Stone, but Beardown has really zoned in on his weakness here. I'm always a little perturbed whenever he gives credence to W/L records. Creedence |

Mr. Reason wrote: Joe Orr Road Rod wrote: Yeah, Beardown, a big mouth on the radio understands the game better than the guy who has dedicated his life to it. You either win or you lose. The rest is just noise. This is true but statistics have always enhanced fan enjoyment of the sport, not a game, but the sport in general. I much prefer discussion about the mechanics of how the game is played. This is as rich for intellectual discussion as the statistical side but is rarely discussed. I think the last time Dan discussed mechanics is when he parroted Sheehan's article about the Bryant having a single that was the best single in the history of the game. Isn't "clutch hitting", "doesn't get wins", etc. in the same bin as "manager's impact on a team"? That discussion not only isn't discarded, it is embraced by Dan. |

It's not something the hitter can control. It relies on other factors. Which is why it's a stat that is typically downplayed by the advanced metrics douchebags. |

Hitters can control driving runs in. Hell, they have an opportunity for one every at bat. |

Steve Stone poses nude and is rumored to be gay for the rest of his life. Arrietta essentially does the same pose and Cub fans run out to buy the magazine. |

I still think Stone is gay. Even though he got married for the first time in his life in his 60s. At that age, what the hell is the point of getting married? But Arrietta has a FULL BEARD. So that means he can't be gay. |
