I haven't listened to the station in almost two weeks. Today, I get 33 straight minutes of Dan and Barry telling me how bad domestic violence is.

They are basically echoing the sentiments of Dicaro and Spain, that playing that song was the worst thing that has ever happened.

It's not, though. "Smack my bitch up" is slang for asking someone to get you high on heroin, I believe primarily in Europe. Which is why the music video features heroin usage, and why it was banned from MTV back in the day.

Now, whether the etymology of the slang term includes referencing domestic violence, I don't know, but I don't think the song is going all that deep in the references it's trying to make. It's about/for guys getting high on junk and blasting techno.

It was absolutely tone deaf by whomever played it, but it's still laughable that (seemingly) nearly every Cubs fan at Wrigley goes nuts whenever Chapman pitches. But, yeah, don't do you dare play a song about hitting a woman! That's just too offensive!
