I'll be at Fatty's at some point today. Might be a decent listen with email and twitter down. Terry back Monday. |

Dan still has plenty to talk about. During Transition he read a Baseball Prospectus article word for word. By the way, if you call yourself a baseball fan, you should subscribe to Joe Sheehan's newsletter. |

And during transition, he once again championed that if the Cubs lose "sometimes baseball is awesome and sometimes it sucks" thereby excusing himself from having to criticize his favorite team. |

The excuse-making and apologizing from everyone at the station RE: Jason Heyward (and, to an extent, Maddon for routinely trotting him out there) is infuriating. Dude has a .167 OBP in the NLCS, an automatic out on par with pitchers, and all we hear from Dan & Co. are exasperated sighs and "they know how to fix him" retorts as people begin to rightly question just what the hell he does that is so valuable to constitute a .354 OPS in the LCS and .250 OPS in the LDS. |

Imagine another baseball team with a chance to win the Series starting an automatic out. People would be saying "what in the hell are they doing?" |

He reads it real slow and prefaces it all by implying anybody who doesn't agree with it is a baseball neanderthal and before he's even done he bemoans the people that are going to call in because they just aren't able to understand the nuance. It's a great example of one of the times where even if you agree with him, you'd rather not because he's such a douche about it. It's up there with the unrivaled excitement of Dan reading Baseball Reference Similarity Scores. |

This situation is ridiculous. And I don't want to see Soler again this year. |

I like Soler and his performance last year was good. He hasn't shown anything yet this playoffs but I'd rather see him against a fastball heavy reliever specifically. |

Bernstein going out of his way to say that the Cubs are favored to win the world series (70-80% NLCS, 51% WS) has to be some form of 4D TrollingChess, right? r-right? |

It's his way of saying Mission Accomplished. At least Rozner gave him some opposition today and basically said the Cubs need to win the WS to claim the title of best team. |

Jaw Breaker wrote: It's his way of saying Mission Accomplished. good call JB; i noticed right when the playoffs were starting up that dan went out of his way to point out that THE. PLAYOFFS. ARE. A. 100%. CRAPSHOOT. so that way you'd know that dan was totally right (as always) about the cubs being the best team in baseball, however LOLPLAYOFFS = 100% CRAPSHOOT = BEST TEAM DON'T ALWAYS WIN so no matter what happened this october dan is always right (ask curious hair because i think he used to #TESTIFY! to this phenomenon =) |

i thought it was real rich hearing how much it pains barry and danny to see the national narrative for the cubs... how national media brings up the goat, curses, 1908.... Danny said today they have a great story they could write about the team today.... and not have to go to that type of story.... Dan.... your own station overpaid for the rights to carry cubs because of their history... it's what makes this NLCS clinching eve a story... BECAUSE IT HASNT BEEN DONE EVER BEFORE |

btw, i'd be remiss if i didn't point out that the most hilarious thing i heard on today's show was dan having some baseball expert at the top of the hour (lamentably i don't think he namedropped Eno Sarris) and near the end of his segment dan asked him if he'd take corey seager or addison russell. Dan, I know that addison russell is "better than many would think" because of his elite defense and his sporadically-burgeoning offense that can occasionally rise up and whack a few (big?) HRs and knock in a few runs.... but come the fuck on. this is corey seager we're talking about.... have you seen him play? going forward i think you can argue that in terms of 100% all-around PURE HITTING there'd possibly be a tough/ish decision if you could pick either corey seager or kris "babe" bryant, but addison russell? maaaannn i know a guy on IRC who's always been beating the drum for javier baez and he went out of his way to say that "baez > seager" and we always give him stick for that... and that's everyone's new playoff hero FFS! we're talking about addison "matt szczur's underwear" in relation to COREY FUCKING SEAGER which i mean.... comeon. nice player that russell, you sure as hell can win (championships?) with him.... but he ain't no corey seager. that's a big official nuh-uh there and if you keep pressing this kind of shit (outside of some kind of ironic schtick) you're going to have your "REALLY. SMART. BASEBALL. GUY." card revoked. corey seager has yet to drive in runs like babe bryant, but when you look at what he did in his age-22 season this year (.308/26/72) don't forget that this is pretty much considered "the tip of the iceberg" for him cuz "the sky's the limit" with corey seager. i wouldn't be surprised if (injury permitting) the .877 OPS he put up this year is the lowest one he puts up for the next 10 years. |

Soler runs like he's in mud and never used his legs before. |
