Terry was back, voice sounded strange at times, and now he's gone again. Have they said anything?

Forgive me if i've missed a post regarding it.

Came back for about a week, and he wasn't ready apparently. Still had voice issues. Like I said, it wouldn't surprise me if he's done......His favorite sport is baseball, and his least favorite is football. They are probably going to do a 25 year anniversary/retirement party in January for him.

I dont know if it means anything but Dan never identifies his partner as " in for Terry". He just says " Lawrence Holmes is in today." And he says it every time, never mentioning Terry

I noticed that exact same thing. And not a word from Feder or anywhere else. Whatever the case may be, i'm guessing his return is becoming more and more of a long shot at best.

WSCR's Terry Boers Off The Air Again For An Extended Period Due To Health Problems

Published on Thursday, 10 November 2016 10:00
Longtime WSCR-AM/670 The Score afternoon host Terry Boers was off the air for the entire summer for medical reasons, finally returning in late October. That return was very short-lived, and Boers has again been off the air for a while. Due to his health situation, his return date is not yet known.

On June 15th, Boers announced that he will be off the air for about two months as he recovered from a necessary, but undisclosed surgical procedure. It was expected at that time that he would return to his radio show in mid-August. That wasn't to be, however.

Boers sent a memo to the station in August, letting his bosses and co-workers know that his recovery was not going well and would take far longer than originally thought. At that point, Boers had hoped to be back to work in early October.

Instead, Boers' return did not happen until October 24th. Listeners noticed that Boers sounded a bit different upon that return. While his sense of humor was still razor-sharp and the "fire" to perform was still there, his voice sounded much weaker.

A lifelong baseball fan, Boers was eager to be able to talk at length about the Chicago Cubs' incredible year and post-season. He was greatly looking forward to expressing his thoughts about the Cubs playing in, and then winning their first World Series Championship in 108 years.

Boers' return lasted only five days, though, with his last time working on air for WSCR-AM happening on October 28th.

In late October, Boers had a setback with his recovery from his still-undisclosed surgery and medical situation. It was originally hoped that he would only be away from work for a few days to a week, but it is now not known when he will be back behind a WSCR-AM microphone.

Boers continues to fight every day to heal and become strong enough to come back to his WSCR-AM family. Early next week, the station hopes to a better idea of when they can expect Boers back.

Always an extremely private person, Boers has chosen to keep his current medical problems a secret publicly. His family, friends, and co-workers all know what he has been going through, but are all respecting his wishes to keep the matter quiet. It was thought that Boers would discuss his medical situation openly when he returned to the airwaves on October 24th, but he again chose not to give any specifics.

This medical absence which started in June is second of the year for Boers, and certainly is a much more serious situation. In February, Boers was out two weeks due to back surgery.

The funny and insightful Boers is one of the original WSCR-AM hosts from when the sports station launched in 1992. He has been covering sports as a reporter/editor/columnist since the late 1960s, since soon after graduating Northern Illinois University.

Boers, who turned 66 years old in September, is supposedly looking at fully or semi-retiring from radio at the end of this year or start of next year -- possibly on his WSCR-AM 25th anniversary date of January 2, 2017. There has not yet been any official announcement on that speculation, though.

As was mentioned he likely did the disability game by returning a week. On the other hand I fear something serious that would keep him off during the World Series win.

I don't think so. I think he'd much rather be working given that the rumor is he is retiring in a few months anyways.

His voice sounded a lot different some days.

Ugh, that post feels too few steps away from the "famous entertainer gravely ill" news items which come out a week before somebody famous dies.

Yeah because Boers deserves to be treated with respect and not like the piece of shit he is.

Of course he's playing the disability game. It ran out, he came back to work, now he's back on.

How dare you question Gloop's uninformed theory and mike's blind acceptance of it!

If he was really playing the "disability game" in order to save money then why would he retire in two months?

As a fan of the station i've enjoyed Terry's insights and shows for 15+ years. And as a longtime listener, part of me was anticipating him possibly discussing his health when he had returned. Ultimately though, his privacy is to be respected and I sincerely do wish him a healthy return to the airwaves soon.

Terry is a very private person.

Never talks much about his wife and kids over the past 25 years.

Bernstein probably talks more about his son in a week than Terry has talked about all of his kids in 25 years.

Not hard to replace current day Boers.

Just hire some schmuck to say "I agree" from 1-6.

Probably some technicality about how many days you have to work in 2016 to get disability in 2017.

Why should Terry have to disclose medical information about himself to anyone? He is protected legally. Learn the HIPPA and then comment about it.
