Put your Beardown conspiracy hat on for a minute and speculate on who Boers was talking about when he was naming those at the station and said you find out who your real friends are in times like this and he found out the hard way and he should've known all along |

Sounds weird, right? But that's who he was talking about. Boers never thought he was his friend until he got sick. Bernstein probably never acted like a friend until Boers got sick. So it makes sense. |

He was probably talking about more than one. But it included Dan Bernstein. |

He's dying. That's not a simple retirement goodbye. |

Was it the podcast or was he really saying the same things multiple times like he had forgotten he just said it seconds ago. |

With all his crying, had to read his post. Coward move to bail on 9/11, I know a lot of people that wish they could have done that, Bernstein saved his ass. |

But then, speaking of Mac, I still remember what he said about Dan once and it's hard not to have that rattling around in my head. |

But then, speaking of Mac, I still remember what he said about Dan once and it's hard not to have that rattling around in my head. Yeah. They had a few falling outs. But Terry would always fall back in. One time Terry gave Mac shit because Mac bought 10 seats for the B&B roast at $100 a plate or whatever it was. Boers didn't like that. I guess he thought Mac was showing off his money. Something like that. At the time, Goff was crying that he and other poor producers couldn't get in for free. So I think Boers was sticking up for them. |

I've come to think of Beardown's youtube posts as kind of an Amazon.com clickthrough from hell, where for every pageview his video selections get, some African despot gets fifteen cents. |

America wrote: He may not make it to 1/5. That was my concern hearing it, although it sounds like maybe that is his goal now -- from what I have read, a lot of people can actually live longer with goals like that in place. It definitely sounded not very good and I am sorry for whatever it is because he really isn't that old... at least he gets to put his affairs in order... I guess that is a blessing and a curse. In many ways, it seems like it would be easier to go like Doug, but Terry can at least work through some stuff. |

Yeah. When Terry said, "I"m gonna make it to 25 years, dammit", that was a clear sign that he's been told he doesn't have much time. That and the crying. Terry wouldn't cry that much if it were just a retirement. Even Bernstein cried. So Boers told him. Probably recently since Boers probably doesn't share much with co workers. Terry said he wrote his retirement column months ago. But had to revise it once he got sick. Yeah, it's sad. |

Esophageal cancer. It killed my grandpa (who was also in radio, coincidentally) in '99. Wasn't Terry once a very big guy who ate a lot and smoked a lot? And now his voice comes and goes and he can't eat? It's an unrelenting disease, saw it firsthand, probably why I felt so sad today. |

I had a death in my family a couple of years ago where it was tough cuz we knew in advance. Given a time frame. There was some suffering. So hearing Terry speak made me think of that. |

I was pack-a-day+ for almost 8 years when I quit cold turkey 10 months, 8 days ago...and I mean this kind of shit is why. I'm like Terry in that I fucking adore cigarettes, but if you stick with them too long this moment where within one year you can go from "I'm going to enjoy a nice 10-15 years of retirement" to "I just want to live another month and a half" that constantly shadows over you. Poor Terry, its gotta be fucking terrible for him. |
