Rusty From Stickney is like an FCC-compliant ikesouth.

Much like everyone in Stickney, Rusty suffers from severe brain damage. IIRC, he moved down to a trailer park in the Florida Panhandle, which has only furthered the effects of said brain damage.

Typical beta.

He called up one day many moons ago and, given his unique character and phrasing was invited to call back any time ... which he did on occasion ... finally one day they devoted about 30 mins to a segment called "(It's Time To) Ask Rusty", basically (mostly) unscreened calls from listeners, some fine, some mean ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7OXm0g73ow ... I cannot say for certain, but this is honestly the last time I remember him calling in until the other day ... I think from time to time he dropped them a note or gave them a quick call but I don't know how much of that ever reached the air.

Out of context it would definitely be weird ... knowing the guy who first surfaced about 10 years ago helps.

I didn't catch this last call.

I said it in another thread when it was discussed. It's not a bit by B&B. But this guy is trying to do a bit to amuse himself. That's clear.

It was not compelling radio

It was nice to hear Rusty from Stickney one last time if only as a farewell to Boers & Bernstein. Even if everyone's in on the joke, it was just nice to be like "oh, yeah, that was something funny they used to do."

Speaking of that, I hope we get one or two Friday Fungs for the road. The decline of the show can be traced to the decline of Friday Fung.

That's a good point. Friday Fung was great even when it was bad. Total opposite of WYC.

I remember hearing his call years ago, and his drops being used throughout the years. I just thought the most recent call was painful. But, like CH said, it's fine as a one-off for Terry's goodbye.
