Chris is on with Dan today, my predicted pairing for B&B going forward...is today an audition?

I predict a fun show because Chris pairing with Dan tends to bring out the silly.

Crossing my fingers.

If they don't promote JDC, they will be slapped with a lawsuit.

Its amusing that Red bitches and moans about the lack of opportunities for women in sports media yet has zero to say about not once being asked to co-host with Lil Danny during the 6 months the Walking Dead has been off.

How about just 'on him'?

Hasn't Rongey co-hosted with Dan several times in the past? Why would today's show be an audition? What would they find out today that they don't already know?

At this point, how could they not know who is going to be Dan's new partner?

Rongey clearly said right at the top that he forgot to turn on his microphone and this was "his first show".

I think this is going to happen.

First show as in first ever radio show. He was being sarcastic.

Post subject:  Re: 12/28: An Audition?

Given that they have had 1/2 a year to prepare, they probably already know (or should) the future of the afternoon show. They probably wouldn't want to make any announcements prior to January 5th since Boers will be officially wrapping up his career then, and there's probably a short period in-between shows to make an announcement, advertise and/or build it up, etc, but it would be surprising if they didn't select someone from the current in-house candidates (Rongey, Goff, Rozner, Abbattacola, Holmes) unless they do a solo show with producer/update input).

I wouldn't expect the choice to be Holmes (Has he announced to his relentless, inquisitive fan base that he's not a candidate yet?) or Abbattacola (Has auditioned for the afternoon show previously and didn't get chance; unless Bernstein sees him as a great fit or continuation of the current show, it's difficult to see this).

Rozner is probably his more frequent fill-in host, but has the newspaper career. Does he want to continue to do both? Is he happy with fill-in time and weekend baseball shows? He's probably the logical choice, but I'm not sure if he wants the job.

Goff is probably the favorite from current on-air talent. He has the history on the show, would fall into line quickly, etc. Most on this board don't see him and Spiegal as a good fit, and think Goff was better when he was a producer.

I don't see any reason why Rongey would be considered although the same can be said for others on this list. He laughs uncontrollably at things that aren't funny although he would be a "fresher" voice that most of the already mentioned hosts.

I would rank the probability:
1) Goff
2) Rozner
3) Rongey
4) Abbatacola
5) Holmes
* Somewhere in this mix is the Dan Bernstein show with Abbatacola and Julie DeCairo chiming in with their great thoughts.

I'm either not remembering or just missing on any other candidates.

I don't think Rongey will be a co-host on the marquee. But I think he will be part of the aquarium surrounding The Dan Bernstein Show. Maybe more in the role which Jim Johnson used to have on WLS on the old Roe/Garry show.

No way JDC would work with Danny. She is friends with Sarah Spain, who has big boobies. Dan is a chauvinist pig who said he likes big boobies. You can't have a show where one host is always thinking about the other host's friend's big boobies. Doesn't work.

Did he expand on this or just tell us that "anything" can happen, all scenario's are being discussed, but his sources say the situation is fluid and we won't know until it happens, type nonsense?

Of all those listed, four would be "passable," but if they hired Abbatacola, I have no idea what they were looking for. He's just not cut out for radio... Might be great at other things but not radio.

Rozner is hated by some but is a solid sports journalist with credentiald and a good knowledge of baseball and hockey.

Rongey seems to have good chemistry with Dan and gives him shit back in a way that doesn't seem forced. Good baseball knowledge.

Holmes, although an insecure dweeb, is one of the few who works hard at his job and who can drive a show without a problem (aside from his gay comic book stories). He would be reliable and not embarrassing.

For me, Goff's stock has never been lower, BUT he became very well liked as a BB producer and when he co-hosts with Bernsie (our Lord and Savior), he sounds like a different person. Seems like he just relaxed and doesn't force things as much.

Abbatacola - #producer4life

This.

Everything is on the table.

More to come from Ted Phillips via Dan Bernstein.

I hope Rozner gets the gig. That way, it goes from Rozner is hated by some to Rozner is hated by all.

My honest feeling is that if the new co-host was Abbatacola, that would had been announced several weeks ago. As they were wrapping up towards the final B&B broadcast, they would have touted that Bernstein with Abbatacola would be a natural extension of the old show. This would have also allowed for Terry to celebrate the fact that his friend, Matty, would be moving up to a better spot at the station.

Enjoyed Bernstein and Rongey today, though I kind of wonder if Rongey's dry humor and tendency to be a smart ass would get old fast being paried with Bernstein each day.

I've always enjoyed Bernstein and Rozner and wouldn't mind that going forward. I've also liked the combination of Bernstein and Abbatacola, while Rongey doing updates. The three of them together could be fun.

Was leading the search party for Anusface AKA Penisbreath. Like Forrest Gump after his two year run, I decided that I was tired and decided to stop.

Cowley every day may be too much. Cowley in one day a week the way in which Dan LeBatard has some guys (mostly Greg Cote on Thursday, he used to have Stan Van Gundy in every Wednesday before Stan went back to coaching) would be really good.
