Serious question.

Does Ranger, Joe O, Drinky, Shep or any of the other SCORE back ups actually go up to Mitch and say, "I'd like to be Bernstein's new partner. I'll do it well. I'll make you proud. I won't let you down, sir."

Seems to me they sit back, wait for the decision and cry on the air when they get passed over. What's the worse that can happen? He says "No"? So what? Then you continue producing or updating like you would have done had you not asked. Some bosses might like that type of initiative. If nothing else, Mitch might think of this "Go get 'em" attitude/confidence for the next opening.

To answer my own question, I would guess that none of them do that. Which is stupid.

There is much probably not much done openly. I doubt doing so makes much of a difference anyways since they probably have had a good idea of who would replace Boers for some time.

My guess is that once again Beardown has no idea what he is talking about.

You really think these guys work at the SCORE and do not show interest in wanting a promotion?

Stupid.

Of course, I can't imagine that the suspected candidates wouldn't want this job unless you're Lawrence Holmes and you pull yourself out of contention because the job doesn't interest you as he claimed to do on the mid-day show.

They all kiss Mitch's ass and put in for a promotion.. I think it's been Rozners job for 6 plus months unofficially. Bernstein wouldn't tolerate Abattaclueless, Larry, Shep, Dicaro or Goff. Bernstein still has final say in his new cohost. He wouldn't want Meatpants or Rongey..it is only Rozner.

Of course they want it, but I don't think they present themselves to their boss in a manner where he thinks much about them. Christ, Dan Hampton and Pat Mannelly got gigs over the SCORE staffers. Staffers that Mitch sees every day. But he also sees Ranger snapping towels at Joe O or drinky dry humping Ranger during updates. See what I'm saying?

Maybe if they ask for a meeting with Mitch, put on a suit, act just a little bit serious, present their case as to why they are good, he might think twice before giving it to the stuttering Dan Hampton just cuz he was a 1985 Chicago Bear.

Guys like Drinky, Ranger and Joe O need to lose the frat boy persona and actually show the boss that they're not fucking yahoo idiots. Then once they get the gig, they can go back to being frat boys!!!! That's all I'm saying.

Being an ex-Bear is seemingly instant credibility except when it's not (i.e. can't speak, don't know other sports, or both). I wonder if the Score management realized that having them as "expert" guests is probably a better idea than giving them a full time hosting job, but these tend to be low risk, higher upside moves because they are beating out producers for these opportunities. If/when they don't work out, the same pool of talent (or producers) is likely to still be available.

I'm not even talking about after the point Terry made his announcement. The staffers have a chance to show themselves to Mitch long before the outsiders come in for interviews when a gig does open. So maybe ask for a meeting well before a job opens. That sort of thing.

Then again, at this point, none of these guys can fool Mitch. He knows them too well by now. So maybe the lesson is don't be a yahoo jack ass when you start at the SCORE as a producer. Kind of show Mitch you have a brain from the get go. That you're a little bit serious at least some of the time. Might help you down the road.

They probably did express interest in the role. Why is there doubt that they wouldn't have? In any organization, if there is an opening, some will be more aggressive than others, but all will probably express interest in the role although I don't think any would talk openly about the job since it wasn't actually open until December 22nd and they probably wouldn't want to burn any bridges.

I have doubts. I think some of them felt entitled and thought it would come their way. Like drinky and Goff.

Goff did get it. But Curious Hair said Goff being black helped. Drinky is a god damn awful white!!! He needed to not be a dumb ass/goof 24/7.

If anyone ever actually said this, they should be relegated to an administrative assistant role in the department that deals with solicitor phone calls.

I was being sarcastic with the quote of how they should say it. Trying to be funny. You couldn't pick that up? But you get the point. Make yourself known is all I'm saying. Might not help but it couldn't hurt.

On air host is not the natural promotion from producer.

I think it happened that way in the past because they hired on air quality talent who to entry level jobs as producers with an agreement for some odd hour airtime. The guys they hire these days seem like lifetime producers
