Show will take place on Tuesday, January 31st. Just wanted to make sure we had a thread around beforehand to discuss it. |

Dan seriously just suggested that memories of Jordan playing are long since faded and that he's more known as a shoe salesman than as a player at this point. |

That's trivially true but the notion that people don't think about or recall Jordan as a player any longer is nonsense. Career highlights of him on Youtube have many millions more views than active or more recently active players, even stars like Kobe. His career still casts a huge shadow over the entire league and probably will for a very long time given how protected his image was compared to anyone else. |

Of course when Goff is talking about how often athletes pushing respectability politics like Barkley are given platforms over people with actual insight, the first name that comes to Dan's mind is Jamelle Bouie |

Dan likes to be an iconoclast when it comes to Michael Jordan. Jordan has been retired for 19 years (I'm not counting his playing days from 2001-2003) and fans in their early 20s don't have any recollection of seeing him play live. I'm always shocked when I hear a producer (usually on AM1000 or a national show) chime in and say they don't remember seeing Jordan play and think "How young is this guy?" and then I think about long it's been since he retired and it does make sense. However, they know he's a legend and as Zeph said have seen highlights on YouTube. I think it's going to be a quite a while before anyone says "That guy in the Hanes commercials used to play basketball?" |

These guys are making this Lebron-Barkley spat sound bigger than it really is. It seemed to me Lebron wasn't making some broader point about Barkley's terrible politics and the implications of his buffoonery (though he'd be quite correct to do so) but instead simply clapping back with personal insults after being shit on by him for ages. |

I saw Arnold Palmer play golf but to say I have an educated view on what Arnold Palmer meant to the game of golf would be absurd. If you saw Jordan play in the 90-93 years, arguably his peak, and you were older than 12 at the time, you are at least 38 years old now. |

I'd expect they don't like Barkley because he routinely criticizes the black community that Lil Danny wishes he grew up in. |
