If only the launch angles and exit velocity on all the Cubs swings and contact was better, they win....

On a serious note....Heyward and Bryant were awful last night...getting "stuck" having to play Gore was ridiculous as well.
His last AB was horrid, especially the last 2 pitches, where he got out of the way of getting hit, then swinging at ball 4 summed
up these last 2 games for the Cub...

So above all else Theo's biggest issue with Maddon is how he has handled the Russell situation according to Bernsie? Please.

On a day that should be nothing but strict baseball talk and dissection, Bernstein makes it about Addison fucking Russell. Unbelievable.

Yea, that doesn't sound correct, but to play Bernstein's advocate, maybe Theo is frustrated with Maddon and sees the Russell thing as an excuse to get rid of him.

Bernstein will probably spew his usual bullshit about loud voices, back channel discussions, fluid situations, etc. and things that are going to happen until they don't.

This has been suggested in other threads....I'm starting to buy into this theory.

They can use the Strop incident to fire him too.

Aside from Russell, I think Joe probably pissed Theo off by frequently benching Schwarber and Heyward, no matter how justified it was.

The whole Gore thing was weird too...I wonder if Theo wanted him on the roster and Joe made a point of leaving him in left and getting two embarrassing at-bats.

I want Maddon gone as much as anyone, but do you think he actually threw last night's game by continuing to use Gore?

I agree it's unlikely (my feeling last night was he just messed up), but wouldn't rule it out entirely.

having Gore was a great roster move - he brought a great dimension to the team. But several times in the last week Joe either ignored him or used him improperly. He painted himself into a corner last night after he fucked up the 6th inning and felt like he HAD to use him after Rizzo got on (and he DID have to at that point). After that he handcuffed himself and was stuck with him in the game. Unforgivable.

as unbelievable as joe maddon not reading the blog until he literally had to be pulled aside and told to read it? as unbelievable as knowing that the team enabled an abuser for MANY years and tried to bury their heads in the sand when it came time for justice, social or otherwise?

clearly karma was against the cubs for aiding and abetting a serial wife abuser and now look at everyone here wanting to once again bury their heads in the sand and "talk baseball" when there's real life going on! any self-respecting cub fan should understand that god works in mysterious ways that we cannot begin to comprehend, and clearly He's pissed off at this insistence on "talking baseball" in the wake of serious issues including, but not limited to, the serial abuse of Mel Russell.

if only the cubs manned up and dealt with this like any self-respecting "soy fed nu-male cuck" would have then I have no doubt that the Cubs would be playing on Thursday and beyond. instead, welp, #ThatsCub!
