Essentially business as usual.

So....can I think this is addition by subtraction without celebrating someone's loss of a job?
I'm sory, bot Connor is not good at radio. I'm sure he's a swell guy.

I would imagine they could cut most shows to 1 host each.

I hate that people are losing jobs but Chicago sports radio could really use a huge reset.

With a paycut according to the Entercomm announcement. Anyone making over $50k getting cut 10-20%

At this point they should just send everyone home, and let Les broadcast 24/7. He would probably do it for free.

How long has McKnight been there? I would think that his contract would be up soon.

Sucks for him, but if nobody is buying advertising time because nobody is sure if they are going to stay open, then the sales staffs are going to get destroyed. And you can't cut the sales staff without cuts to the on air staff.

I expect that anybody who doesn't have new paper is going to be on ice in that industry.

McKnight's contract might have been up soon. Those big changes the station made were in March 2018 and a lot of them got 1-year or 2-year deals at that time (some have since re-upped, like Parkins for example).

You're right -- I think any personnel in local radio right now especially owned by Entercom and iHeart are skating right now.

Radio is dying. Why listen to the score when I can listen to podcasts so I don't have to hear Mac talk about Caddyshack for 20 minutes?

You probably won’t find a DiCaro send-off for McKnight either because it’s not about her at that point

At the very least, Mac and Bernstein's contracts (and possibly Mully and Haugh if they are in a similar category of compensation) are going to look different.

Entercom cleaning house. The numbers must ugly. This is a pretty swift reaction to what should be a short term problem. I wonder if this alters radio for the future even when all this clears up? More syndicated programming, lower contract values, solo hosts, etc....

CH will weigh in heartily. His disdain for McDoink is strong.

Post subject:  Re: McKnight out

His contract must have been up. So it was opportunistic to get rid of him during these times.

Otherwise, why fire him now when you still have to pay him?

But he sucked. Just like Julie.

And yeah, it certainly means Bernstein solo. They're not gonna hire a replacement. McKnight said his position was eliminated. Maybe later they give Bernstein another partner. But nobody is hiring right now.

I'll guess, Maggie, Haugh, Grobber for on air staff.

Yep. Theoretically I'm good through the end of the year because revenues are already allocated by my clients. But there is probably no way I survive 2021 with my current employer, even at my current part time role I voluntarily cut back to when I bought my house here in NC. I survived the market crash and the post 9/11 slump, but if there's even a 10% cut in revenues most of my clients can't justify doing more than the minimum.

I can see Grobber as Entercom probably wants them to run generic CBS sports radio after dark.
