Dick Butkus will join Dan Bernstein at 10:00 today to talk about Doug Buffone.

I expect Dan to introduce him as "Slow, tiny, and white former Chicago Bear, Dick Butkus."

The listeners became smarter listening to the Bernstein FOTS era of the Score. They became so smart that they easily refuted one of his core beliefs.

And they stopped listening to him.

lol Bernstein said "shit" on the air at 9:34 on the stream (under his breath). I think he lost connection with Will Perdue.

I like Will. He prepares well. Wait until you see how good he is at talking sports outside of basketball.

The Score started its downward trend the day they made the decision to kill off mention of the '85 Bears. I would say that happened shortly after the Hamp & Holmes show was nixed.

When you fart around with your base like that, its not gonna be good.

Yesterday's episode of Peyton's Place proved what is important here: DA BEARS!

NFL wins again. I don't see any ex-Bulls or NBA'ers co-hosting this week.

Will Perdue is co-hosting with Dan today.

He's a rough listen.

One of the few things Bernsie still does that's usually fun, "Who's Your Guy", will be on tomorrow at 10:00.

I like Will Perdue. It is just awkward because they are doing it over a line.

So are they doing the Kap & Company model for Bernstein now?

Kap was just saying how he personally blew up the Pippen for Kemp deal by leaking it and the Seattle fans going apeshit and cancelling season tickets because they didn’t want to trade Kemp so the Sonics backed off the deal and voila!! So we have Kap to thank for the second 3 peat because if Pip is traded , MJ doesn’t come back .

I hope they don't. Unless he's paired with someone who will call him on his BS and bust his balls, I think he's better by himself.

He did. About 11:00.

Butkus is kind of the anti Ditka in terms of monetizing the fan's love for him

Based on that interview, Bernstein seemed to know, understand and like Doug more than Butkus does/did.

I've not been listening, but if he's going to go solo then one 40-minute interview most days (it's not like they are going to miss revenue from skipping a commercial block) in the 10 o'clock hour makes sense, as long as they don't repeat the interviewees. And maybe somebody from outside the Score sitting in for the whole show once every couple of weeks.

I didn't get that. I got that Butkus is very old now and it was early in LA.

Will.........Perdue.......takes a long time................to formulate.............his thoughts.......

he is a good listen, but man, it'd be a better listen cut up and edited together.

It makes sense when you think about the fact that the Doug Butkus really got to know was probably a much different Doug than the guys at the SCORE got to know. And I don't really think Butkus is much of a people person and is not going to really make over anyone.

The guys at the SCORE all absolutely loved and adored him. Larry had Goff on yesterday to talk about Doug. He described their relationship as Rocky and Creed in the first creed movie.

Bernstein asked Butkus if he competed for any acting roles with Brian Dennehy. You could tell Dick wanted to laugh at the question (which the answer was no), but ended up telling a funny story related to one of his casting calls.

I'm guessing a few of them might still be trying to explain away the 'Traveling Cocaine Circus' epithet.

Yea, I thought he was confuse and didn't know what button to push. A good 5 seconds of silence too!

Its time for Bernstein to fall on his sword and call it a career - at the Score, anyhow.

Dan discussing his struggles with his dead lawn and birds eating all the seed he keeps laying down was sorta entertaining.
