B&B either stated it or implied that Dwight Howard is a lock to deliver a NBA title. They were citing how trading for the best center in the game has always worked out and resulted in titles. Bump this in 5 years if any of us are still alive. |

Bill Simmons broke this down recently and showed that in the last 40 years you always win a title if you trade for the best C in the league. |

I'm not sure what your point with this thread is. |

This didn't work out too well when the Knicks traded for Eddy Curry. |

That they think getting Dwight Howard is a guarantee that you win an NBA title regardless of the team. I don't think that is true.I don't think the Nets win the title with Deron and Howard. Even the Bulls may not. I'm just not sold that Howard equals Shaq in terms of winning titles. |

Well I'm not sure he is getting paired with a young Kobe and Phil Jackson either. I agree it's definitely not a lock and shouldn't have been expressed that way. |

I'm shocked the hornets didn't make a run when they traded for White Panther a couple years back. |

Does Derrick + Dwight = win 4 games out of 7 versus the Heat? I think yes |

Howard & Rose is a guaranteed NBA Title. Given 2 full year shots at it. |

So does this make Luc Longley the best center in the NBA during the Jordan run? |

Oden vs. Durant -- who do you pick #1? Obvious now, but back then, I think it was a valid question. I don't think centers are as important as they used to be; it is a bonus to get a center that can play any form of offense and it is certainly doable to win championships with an adequate defensive center. |

Cant really compare. WHo knows what POrtland does if Oden stays healthy? It isnt like Durant has 2 rings already. |

I thought he played good defense and would have been a force on that end. His lack of basic footwork (trust me, i watched about 75% of his college games) troubled me. He scored a lot of his points by just being tall. |

Listening to the podcast now. For the record, Terry said that it's a good thing, and that team wins championships. Dan's exact quote is "Generally when the best center in the game is available, the team that gets him is in contention. Right away. Like the Heat for example." Made up radio, BRick. One said it. Not the other. Just stating facts. Who can't envision the Nets becoming a contender by trading for Howard? A majority of the East is turrible this year. Of course they would become a contender. Lopez will be back next month. |

I agree that bringing Howard to the Bulls would equate a title. I still contend that Orlando isn't stupid enough to make that happen. |
