I'll be tuning in tomorrow to see the extent of Bernstein's hypocrisy when it comes to basketball. After the last two losses he has used multiple examples from said loss to demonstrate why the Bulls can't beat the Heat in the playoffs while simultaneously discrediting anything the Bulls have done positively.

I've enjoyed listening to the show off and on the past few weeks but I think I'm close to dropping the afternoons from my routine, or at least when the NBA comes up. Now I remember why I stopped tuning in years ago. Bernstein's basketball thoughts are BAD, to use his term.

I'd rather listen to J Hood talk about the Bulls.

Agreed. Is there any other sports radio host in town who isn't awful when it comes to talking about the NBA?

Shit, it's not that hard. Just don't say outrageously stupid shit day after day and don't say(paraphrasing) "I don't care about the NBA because it's not important." You'll automatically float to the top.

Every single Score host falls under one of the two previous categories. If I'm wrong I'd like to know, and why.

Dan's take seems to be that the NBA is at once thoroughly unimportant and also deserving of extreme in-game scrutiny. Do these cancel each other out and equal "outrageously stupid shit"?

I think you are being better at describing his hypocrisy than I'm am. But. It seems right.

Great thread guys!

The massive scrutiny and dire proclamations are brought out when BernSTINE or the resident NBA Expert need to criticize the Bulls.

I will ask again, what have the Heat done this season to prove that they are definitively better than the Bulls? They don't have the better record and they've lost the head to series including a game in Miami w/o Rose. But we are just supposed to believe it and if you don't you are an idiot, a moron and someone who needs to "turn on the TV". Well, I have turned on the TV and I don't see a Heat team that is definitively better than the Bulls.

But course, the Bulls losing a regular season game w/o Rose and Deng is a huge deal that shows how bad the Bulls are and the Heat beating the Nets shows how ready they are to win that ring.

I'll give it a shot today, like I always do...but I'm willing to bet these show predictions are pretty accurate. Which saddens me.

Post subject:  Re: 4/17 Bad Bulls Thoughts

There were two stupid things said yesterday by Bernsteine. One he doesn't care about what happens during the regular season because it does not matter. Then why do teams fight for home court advantage and why don't more #8 seeds win the title. He along with the resident expert said that Dallas beating Miami has no bearing on what the Bulls are going to do. I am getting tired of The Lebron James love fest also. They portray him as this insurmountable obstacle yet he has been surmounted at some point during every playoff series that he has been involved with. He has been surmounted even when his team was considered the favorite. The 1 in 4 chance stated by Bernstein was also stupid. There are a lot of NBA types that quite frankly have a lot more credibility than those two that are now picking the Bulls. They are picking the Bulls for a lot of the same reasons that the callers are because they see holes in the Heat. To label people as morons when they make credible points is stupid and now Goff is stating that he is tired of talking about at the very moment when the all of their protestations are put to the test is extremely suspect. Terry is even jumping off the ship

Yeah, my bad.

Carmen and Silvy were the goods.

Silvy is still really good, he needs to be on a station that doesn't hope to contain him....a shame about his wishy washy partner, Tom Waddle.

BigFan would drown in an ocean of tears and sorrow if that were to happen.

According to him, M&H is the cats pajamas and the best thing going at the Score.

It's also his favorite show.

Bernstein said yesterday that he gives the Bulls a 25-33% chance of beating the Heat in the playoffs. For a numbers guy, that seems really off.* Even if the Heat are better, I'd guess it would be more like 44%. Can anyone find win probabilities of various NBA playoff seed matchups?

*Unless he's assuming Rose to be fairly unhealthy. Which I guess is a fair assumption.

Where is he getting those numbers though? Regular season performance, schedule, statistics?

I really enjoy it. At my old job I was in the car a ton so listening to Hit and Run was enjoyable to me, that and Goff on Saturday mornings.

Rozner and Speigs are very good together.

Yes. That's the perfect use for Spiegel.

I'm not a Spiegel hater like most here, but his voice is annoying to me.

Either the regular season matters or it doesn't. Can't have it both ways. Of course it matters. That's why most fans get excited when they win a game.

For what it's worth, I hope the guys replay Coach Thibs' postgame press conference. Based on what I heard last night, Coach Thibs' "DO YOUR JOB" tirade could be a "Quote of the Year" nominee.

Bernstein's position (which I agree with) is that the play-offs are much different than the regular season. The Bulls are a very good regular season team because they play hard every game and they are deep - which is all the more evident in this compressed season. In the play-offs every team plays hard & the rotation is shortened - thus negating 2 of the Bulls strengths. The ability to implement a focused defensive game plan during a play-off series puts a premium on scorers - an area where the Bulls lack consistency.

That said, I still see the Bulls as one of the top 3 teams in the league and they should be able to reach the conference finals again. They are well coached, play solid defense and generally out-rebound the opponents. I would love nothing more than for them to beat the Heat...but I wouldn't bet on it.

"Double Nut in the Morning" would make a great jingle for a breakfast cereal ad.
