Last night our very own Matty Batty took Bernstein to task in the 5 PM hour regarding his stance on Shaw's importance to the team (not a top line player) and politely pilloried Bernstein's comments that ALL Blackhawk fans believed Shaw's hit shouldn't be penalized. Matty fought the good fight for us bored memebers in support of intellectual sports chatter, not the B.S. we were being fed all day yesterday. He was not perfect in his analysis, but he tried when Bernsy wouldn't listen to others. Thank you Matty for standing up for the intelligent meatballs! Keep him honest today. I would also like to point out that during the little half hour show that Laurence Holmes had immediately following B&B, he brought in Jay Zawaski who said what Matty was having trouble saying. Hmmm...get someone on the air that actually can talk about what Shaw means to the team and why his absence is a big deal. Novel freaking idea. Kudos to Laurence for doing this. I fail to see why Bernstein didn't try and get Jay on the show when he was flailing so badly. If he doesn't like Zawaski, the least the show could have done is look up Sam Felds who Bernstein refers to often. Shit, if nothing else just PM Ugie and get a hold of Stinkfinger. SHARK along later with updates. |

Going to have to check the podcast of today's transition when it's up because I think Terry just nodded along with someone one too many times. Bernsie (in reference to Jim Cummins): I don't remember him. Boers: I don't either. About 30 seconds later... Mac: We (meaning he and Terry) had him on a few times. Boers: I remember. |

When I hear a "Match Game" reference in regards to the NBA Draft Lottery set, I think of the classic '70s game show that's still one of GSN's most popular game shows to this day. |

Here's the Wednesday game plan of silliness and seriousness on the "B & B Show": *2:30p Cubs' TV PBP Len Kasper-Live from Miami *3:30p: "The Second Half" Producers: Matt Abbatacola & Jason Goff "Scoreboard Updates": RED ALERT! RED ALERT! Terry's "two favorite words in show business", Laurence "Mr. Multimedia" Holmes follows these guys at 6p for just 35 minutes in advance of Chris Rongey's pregame for Orioles/White Sox on the Chicago White Sox Radio Network at 6:35p from "The Cell". PLEASE NOTE: Because the O's & White Sox play an afternoon game tomorrow...NO "WHO YA CRAPPIN'" TOMORROW @ 5p. Gary from Evanston will be bummed. If that's not enough, Bernsy's latest column can be found here: http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2012/04/18/ ... -everyone/ |

The guy who said Kane and Hjalmarsson got off easy for their part in the Boedker goal kind of had a point. Of course it was a bad goal, a downright awful goal, but he's right; overtime goals often are. Would you call Bickell's goal a beauty? The mere fact that it was scored by Bryan Bickell virtually precludes it having been a beauty. What about Hanzal's redirect off an Aucoin point shot? What about Ben Smith's garbage goal to win Game 6 last year? As you get deeper and deeper into a game, the probability of getting something gross and fluky past the goalie approaches 1. To that end, you can place greater importance on not allowing the possibility of such a gross, fluky goal; ergo, Kane's gotta take heavy blame for that turnover. But of course, Dan and Terry made some loud false dichotomy fallacy over it and that was that. |

Plenty of bad to go around there. |

But of course, Dan and Terry made some loud false dichotomy fallacy over it and that was that. And Terry went back to it around the time you posted and I TTFP (Tapped the Fucking Pad). B&B, (if you're reading) hockey (like most sports) is not about definitive or argumentative absolutes. Hockey, unlike any other major American sport, has a fludity to it that is more than just subtle and television does it little justice. You (DB in particular) have chosen to keep a closed mind in order to flimsily support your premises (remember the team that checks less wins?). There are sports fans in this city, on all sides of town and many of whom enjoy basketball as well, who love hockey. Particularly playoff hockey. Yes, people would rather hear you talk hockey as opposed to your latest foray down aisle 8 at the Treasure Island. But no, not if you stubbornly and ritualisticly choose to cling to notions that do not resonate with hockey fans. Chicago Blackhawk fans will only tolerate someone who doesn't like the Hawks so long as they know the game of hockey, and are willing to accept a few shots in the process. Is that too narrow a premise for you ladies? Well, don't care because I'm through TTFP on this. |

Quite honestly that guy that never has a good call wasn't horrible, and the last point about whether or not a 5 minute major may have impacted the game was worth discussing. |

You could tell right out of the gate that Terry was having a really tough time staying "with it" show wise. The way he is speaking belies a man with no point of reference. They made fun of THE CUMMER for not watching the hit yet going on air to discuss it....yet this is what Terry does every show. |

Kinda silly to call out hockey for all those meaningless scrums when football is just a series of meaningless scrums. |

Bernstein has no problem calling out hockey because he honestly doesn't like the sport. Based on his remarks the last couple of days, he seemingly makes no effort whatsoever to understand the game and simply shrugs hockey off into some kind of "barbaric sporting event" realm that only he understands and maintains. He practically does the same thing with football - but only when asked if he would ever allow his children to play the sport. Otherwise, he has no problem with those players mutiliating one another on the field because he enjoys the game. "As long as my kids aren't out there, I say players can hit each other as hard as they want!" |

The bitch about listening to B/B hockey talk is that they firmly believe that their opinion of hockey (as a non-sport destined for failure) is gospel, and the injuries/fights/violence that get major attention results in them smirking and chiding idiot hockey fans about how B & B were right all along. Don't get me wrong, I'm not some FUCK BERNSTEEN SO NEGATIVE guy, I just wish they'd either talk about the sport with a slight bit of objectivity or not talk about it all. |
