Bud Light brings the "Boers & Bernstein Show's 'Who Needs Two?' Tavern Tour" to the Old Town Pub in Geneva this afternoon from 1-6p, and one more time, Laurence "Mr. Multimedia" Holmes sits in for Terry Boers alongside Dan Bernstein for this afternoon's live broadcast. Bernsy & Holmes will have Cubs' tickets for a "future game" among the goodies for those that are heading out to the remote today, but that's just part of it. Speaking of the Chicago National League Ballclub, they try to stop the bleeding tonight in Pittsburgh in the first of 3 vs. the Pirates at PNC Park. The Cubs bring a 9-game losing streak into the game, and I think there's a real good chance that the guys rewind this morning's interview from the "Mully & Hanley Show" with Cubs' Chairman Tom Ricketts, not only about the state of the franchise, but all the political stuff involving Joe Ricketts, President Obama & Mayor Emanuel. You can bet Bernsy & Holmes will have reactions of their own to what Tom told Mike Mulligan & guest co-host David Haugh of the Tribune this morning, too. There's also the White Sox. Philip Humber was bad at baseball last night, but luckily got another no-decision while the Sox got homers from Paul Konerko, Alex Rios, Anthony John Pierzynski, a grand slam from Alejandro De Aza & Dayan Viciedo in an 11-8 slugfest win over the Twins last night to take 2 out of 3 and move the Sox to 1 game over .500 with the AL Central-leading Indians starting a three-game weekend series at The Cell tonight on The SCORE/White Sox Radio Network. You can bet White Sox TV analyst & The SCORE's own Steve Stone will discuss where things stand with both the Sox & Cubs come 2p this afternoon. One half of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals is now set after the Miami Heat finished off the Indiana Pacers, thanks to big games from both Dwyane Wade & LeBron James in Game 6. Now, the Heat have a little time off to await the winner of the Philadelphia 76ers/Boston Celtics' unlikely Game 7 matchup tomorrow night in their EC Semifinal with Game 1 of the EC Finals starting up, I think on Monday night in Miami. You can bet the guys will also have some thoughts about the Heat and perhaps a thought about the Western Conference Finals between the Oklahoma City Thunder & San Antonio Spurs that starts Sunday night in the Alamo city. All of that, plus "Am I a bad guy?" come 4p for "Friday Fung" as Bernstein & Holmes have the "Bud Light 'Who Needs Two?' Tavern Tour" live broadcast from Old Town Pub in Geneva following the daily transition with Mac & Spiegs come 1p. |

So much to work with here. I'll just start with this: SHARK wrote: Now, the Heat have a little time off to await the winner of the Philadelphia 76ers/Boston Celtics' unlikely Game 7 matchup tomorrow night in their EC Semifinal with Game 1 of the EC Finals starting up, I think on Monday night in Miami. So you're saying that Boston vs. Philadelphia's Game 7 matchup is unlikely? Meaning that they're unlikely to play the game? I hate to break the news to you SHARK, but the game is already scheduled. So actually, they're very likely to play tomorrow. |

It's that Sixers/Celtics shouldn't be playing a Game 7 tomorrow night. I've heard a lot about the Sixers being bad at basketball, and guess what? They're 48 minutes away from another unlikely series win. I know the game is scheduled, but in reality, a Game 7 shouldn't have been necessary. The last time Philadelphia/Boston played a Game 7, it was 1982 and the Sixers won at the old Boston Garden. Might history repeat itself tomorrow? I doubt it, but if the Clippers could beat the Grizzlies like they did in Round 1 out West this year in Memphis, all bets are off. Over 80% of Game 7s in the NBA are won by the home team, but not in that first series. |

Terry's Peeps wrote: That's true, but I would've gone with "surprising" rather than "unlikely". That's my angle. "Surprising" leaves no room for misinterpretation. "Unlikely" could have more than one meaning. |

Terry's Peeps wrote: That's true, but I would've gone with "surprising" rather than "unlikely". You are correct, TP. Anyway, here's the Friday game plan with Bernsy & LoHo live from Geneva: *2p: White Sox TV Analyst/SCORE Chicago Baseball Insider Steve Stone *2:30p: Cubs' Chairman Tom Ricketts (Replay From the "Mully & Hanley Show") *3:30p: "The Second Half" *4p: "Friday Fung: Am I a Bad Guy?" Back at 2 Prudential Plaza, Laurence's NBC5 teammate Matt Rodewald has "Scoreboard Updates" through 6p. Chris Rongey has "Xfinity Feedback Zone Live" from the Gold Coast Ticket Club at U.S. Cellular Field starting at 6p, plus will have the White Sox Radio Network pregame at 6:35p leading up to the 7:10p first pitch for Indians/White Sox. Because they didn't update the schedule on 670thescore.com, I'm not sure if Matt Abbatacola's doing his late Friday night show after the Sox or if they're going to "SCORE Overnight" in the form of Yahoo! Sports Radio live from Houston after Ranger's postgame. C'MON MAN! |

Post subject: | Re: 5/25: Live from Geneva |
Let me be clear: I do not think the Cubs should get public money for Wrigley Field. But the Score is also making it clear that they don't think so either. Witness Matt Rodewald's semi-hourly snarking about how the Cubs are a private company who think they should get public money. Wouldn't be a problem if they weren't the flagship of a team notoriously grafted to the public teat. |

Is it just me or does Cubs' Chairman Tom Ricketts have a little Mike McCaskey in his voice? Listen... |
