In case you guys missed it, danny said something was making him nauseous and then corrected himself saying, "no that is not right, it is making me nauseated." Oddly enough Danny Mac had the same internal dialogue on the air last Friday. |

thefreedictionary.com nauseous adj. 1. Causing nausea; sickening: "the most nauseous offal fit for the gods" (John Fowles). 2. Usage Problem: Affected with nausea. Usage Note: Traditional critics have insisted that nauseous is properly used only to mean "causing nausea" and that it is incorrect to use it to mean "affected with nausea," as in Roller coasters make me nauseous. In this example, nauseated is preferred by 72 percent of the Usage Panel. Curiously, though, 88 percent of the Panelists prefer using nauseating in the sentence The children looked a little green from too many candy apples and nauseating (not nauseous) rides. Since there is a lot of evidence to show that nauseous is widely used to mean "feeling sick," it appears that people use nauseous mainly in the sense in which it is considered incorrect. In its "correct" sense it is being supplanted by nauseating. |

This could also be in the Mac and Spiegs thread -- Dan corrected Kerry during an update a few days ago. |

Hatchetman wrote: In case you guys missed it, danny said something was making him nauseous and then corrected himself saying, "no that is not right, it is making me nauseated." No, he's correct. "Nauseous" for "afflicted with nausea" is shameless descriptivism. It's "nauseated." |

Stupid people have been getting torn between using "regardless" and "irrespective," and choose to split the difference with "irregardless." Do you suppose "irregardless" is now acceptable? I don't. |

Usually, something raises the question. Begging the question is a logical fallacy. |

Next thing you know McNeil will be attacking Bernstein with a copper pot when Dan claims this is the first annual discussion of nauseous vs nauseated. McNeil will club him with said pot, screaming "inaugural" and Bernstein will give a sly grin whilst explaining he was being "sardonic". |
