I honestly feel like he hoped he would be not guilty so he could further rip the state.

Exactly he wanted PA to be the cartoons he made all along. Asshole. People everywhere know right from wrong.

His outrage will now have to be transferred to Lance and doping. Or perhaps the appeal or the federal case against Jerry.

I'd be somewhat surprised if the federal government bothered prosecuting. He's in prison for life. This isn't a death penalty case. There's nothing to do.

You're right, I meant possibly against PSU and the coverup, not Jerry. My bad. Though likely the feds won't pursue anything now. Shame though that so many others knew and won't be punished.

He might get pissy at PSU. The school will settle everything. There will be perjury charges more than likely against Curley and some other guys, but I'd be surprised if they didn't plea. I think the trials are over.

Thank goodness the Heat won, otherwise they'd have had to suspend the show until Bears training camp.

While I get the dislike for the far, far overplayed "fuck PA" theme, anyone that actually would suggest - let alone actually believe - that Dan hoped Jerry would be found not guilty just for a (admittedly tired) bit is a fucking lunatic ... period.

The absolute joy he got from the fact that 75% of the jury had direct ties to Penn State could seem to be evidence he would.

Deep down, Dan Bernstein doesn't care about the child raping that went on. Of course it was bad, but everyone knows it's bad. He cares about bashing college sports and "hero worship". That's why he's so mad that other coaches said that boys have showered there too(you know, like any high school in the country). That's why he blames the fans. That's why he constantly links Coach K to this for daring to not say that Joe Paterno should burn in hell. That's why he wants the program shut down for 25 years.

Deep down, he knew Sandusky would be found guilty. It was an open and shut case. He wanted to believe that anyone at Penn State was going to attempt to let a child molester go free in order to save Paterno's legacy. That's why he has looked for any reason to think they want to save Joe Paterno.

Of course Bernstein is happy that Sandusky went to jail but he views this case as a way to continue the stupid battle he's had for years against the evils of college sports.

If "people are people" and "know right from wrong" then how in the world was he allowed to continue to rape children for decades, even though PEOPLE knew about it? Why are there so many Penn State fans STILL defending Paterno? To be fair, Penn State fans, and others from PA are not the only group of people that still choose to ignore the facts, but they sure do make up the majority of them.

Sandusky may have been the guiltiest of those involved, but just because he has been punished, it doesn’t mean that all the justice that needs to be served has been served. And it surely doesn't mean that it now clears the ignorant people of PA, and others across the country, for ignoring the serious atrocities that people like Joe Paterno committed.

Dan and Terry are part of a very select group that have reported on this story as it should have been reported. They didn't sugar-coat the story ,and they chose to report facts no matter how uncomfortable it may have made some listeners feel.

Jesus, how many in PA still want to name the stadium after Paterno!?!?

The bottom line is that PA is far from being saved from the napalm.

Your a dumbass like Bernsie. Do you have any idea how small a fraction of the population of PA are even PSU fans? And the smaller fraction of them that still defend the crap that went on? Go get your shine box.

I had my suspicions after I read YOUR first post. But after seeing that you deliberately used the word “your” instead of “you’re”, combined with your so-called points, I thinks it’s pretty clear you’re doing a bit.

Either way, supporting the Paterno legacy is a Pennsylvania thing, not a Just a Penn State football thing.

So you are saying that the Paterno supporters are all Penn State football fans? That is categorically false.

His influence and support goes well beyond the Penn State football program.

I'm saying that a lot of Dan's most sweeping claims, particularly that Paterno was "the Pope of Pennsylvania" and that the entire commonwealth is chockablock with rape-loving hill people who'd sooner roger their own children than countenance a single word of anti-JoePa newsprint, are laughably ignorant.

I don't think it's the whole state, but I have no doubt that the proverbial "Alabama in the middle" is about as bad as it's made out to be w/r/t Paterno and Penn State worship.

Even in the western half of the state that seems to be more closely alligned with Pittsburgh?

Sure. Penn State's sphere of football influence is bigger than Pitt's, if that's what you're getting at.

Here is Pittsburgh there is definitely a PSU following. Most of my friends like Pitt more but who knows? Its definitely not as crazy as Bernsie alludes to. Actually, most I talk to have wanted Joe to go back in the crap my pants days.

Both are smaller than the Steelers'. This is all I'm saying about the Pope of Pennsylvania crap: most people live at either end of the state and care significantly more about pro sports. Maybe Dan's napalm comments implicitly spare Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, but it doesn't sound that way. If he really thinks that Zombie Paterno has more pull in western PA than Dan Rooney, then I honestly don't know what to tell him.
